what gearing are we all running?

15 / 48t standard

I am currently running 16 / 48t but may go back to 15 / 44t soon.

16 sprocket, boring. It is even a worse mod than putting the 120 - 3" tyre. :lol

14 sprocket, 230 km/h top speed on the clock (with a 110 front).

boring? Please explain? It raises the top end a bit and gives me 55-60mpg no matter how she is treated?  :'(

The only issue I have with the 16/48 is that the chain is always on the same teeth every 3rd roatation of the front sprocket, and a new tyre will scrape fook out of the hugger as the wheel is well forward. Help wheelies though.

You have less acceleration, and also it seems too much for city jams, you have to use the clutch too much. Also the same teeth-same link ratio fitting a 14 is better than standard, and 230 km/h top speed is plenty for me, I do not want to go to jail.

ah I see, town riding even with my fat body is absolutely fine and the bike will do a relaxed 100 mph anytime. It's still nippy. Thing is, I am fortunate, that I have a need for speed, but for times such as that I use my Blackbird which is lightly tweaked, and regualarly see 180mph+ on that even on the A roads in the right places, so acceleration isn't important for me on the commuter bike that the Fazer is. She is still capable of minging wheelies, and controllable, as my licence will show, and the Police video. Just a big 50 year old kid me.

All right, but if Iget caught faster than 200km/h at a Spanish A-road I go to jail, I do it many times, but it is less tempting this way. On the other hand we have lots of high mountains around here, so the short gearing is a better option.
By the way, which is your top speed with the FZS?

Have seen 145 indicated on 16/48 gearing but no where near the redline although screaming it in 5th before hitting 6th would need to be done to get top to pull cleanly on anything but flat conditions.  I rarely go over 120 mph (200 clicks) as lttle point generally. Standard gearing made me thing I was a gear missing at motorway speeds it was revving its tits off. 160 clicks is an automatic ban here, so it's timing that's important.

120/70 so more accurate than standard.

Thats about as fast as the 15t. I would change it.
One more thing, my fuel compsumption remained the same with the 14t, with pillion and luggage at 120/140 km/h I just have to refill each 300km (18l tank). I do not know why is it but I was surprised. Maybe because althought the bike is revving the throttle is more closed.

nah, don't like it revving it's tits off at 100, 8k is okay though. As my commuter, it suits me the way it is.
