Starter motor spark
#1
This is for my KZ hence general forum.

I've just rebuilt the starter, and when I plugged it back in to the battery I got a spark and not much else. I'm sure I've assembled it correctly, but obviously not. What would cause this? Sounds like a short somewhere but not sure where

Would that be a Kawasaki KZ650?
Some say that he eats habanero chilli peppers dipped in oil of capsaicin for extra bite and that his pyjamas are made from Nomex. All we know is, he's called Ad the Bad

Did it turn freely by hand after you put it back together? Did you test it in the bike or on a table?

It didn't really turn freely by hand. I tested with a battery pack on the table, then on bike too

Any that I've had didn't quite spin freely because of the brushes but you could easily turn them by hand with a bit of resistance. It shouldn't be hard to turn if it is then it's probably stuck and you should take it apart again. You could have blown a fuse too when you tried it on the bike so check them too
