My Rev Counter on my 04 Fazer 1000 when I turn the ignition before starting
the engine it shoots up to 7k rev's for 2 seconds every 6 seconds until I start
the engine and then everything is normal. Anyone know what going on with it
is it an error or fault in the wire?

that looks like an EXUP that needs seeing to - could be the valve itself or just the pulley that's seized or just that the cables need adjusting, others here on the site will know better than me...

Been a long time since I had one, but doesn't the needle do the 7k thing while the engine is running as well?
..it didn't on mine, others here may have a different experience tho

I had the same fault with a fazer i bought recently, but after the ride home it freed off. (rev counter fault code stopped) The bike hadn't been getting used for a few months, so it was just a bit sticky. Its worked fine ever since. Usually its best to strip down, give it a good clean and regrease (coppper grease), rebuild it and adjust the cables.
If it's broken, it's not fixed.
