prize bull
Posted by: johnakay - 29-12-17, 07:05 PM - Forum: General - Replies (1)

A man takes his wife to the Cheshire County Show.
They eventually get to the field containing the prize bulls.

They come up to the first bull and his sign stated:
"THIS BULL MATED 50 TIMES LAST YEAR."

The wife turns to her husband and says:
"He mated 50 times in a year, you could learn a thing or two from him."

They proceed to the next bull and his sign stated:
"THIS BULL MATED 150 TIMES LAST YEAR."

The wife turns to her husband and says:
"This one mated 150 times last year. That is nearly 3 times a week. You could learn from this one too."

They proceeded to the last bull and his sign said:
"THIS BULL MATED 365 TIMES LAST YEAR."

The wife's mouth drops open and says:
"WOW! He mated 365 times last year. That is ONCE A DAY!!! You could really learn from this one."

The man turns to his wife and says:
"Go up and ask if it was 365 times with the same cow."

I sold my bike yesterday, FZS600 1999. I had it since February 2015, it was my first bike since 2002 and i rode it all year around as it was my only transport. The FZS600 are great bikes, I loved mine but time came to move on to a car again, health issues, partner and changes in work etc. I would definitely buy one again, though maybe if i do, next one would be fox eye for the better lights. Anyway, thanks to all the help and patience to everyone on here with my questions/posts over the past 2 years, this forum was a goldmine of info and experience. All the best.

That bloody winter sun: DIY sunshield
Posted by: b1k3rdude - 28-12-17, 07:16 PM - Forum: General - Replies (15)

So have done the electrical tape thing and got bored of the adhesive smearing away from the edge every time I cleaned the visor, so after a bunch of browsing and finding motorcycle specific products like sunax costing way to much for that they do I happened across this idea -

My thinking is I cut a strip 2-3cm from the fade side, and even though its a cling fit secure the ends with some cellotape. And then if the fade side dosent work try the other side.

R6 shock & Debrix emulator installation [HELP!]
Posted by: Kefirchiks - 26-12-17, 02:09 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (17)

Hello, Foccers.
I have my R6 rear shock and Debrix emulators. I have a couple of installation questions, because I couldn't find any info on some things regarding these.

  • I have fitted Hyperpro progressive spring on the R6 shock (so I wouldn't need a spring spacer). The spring rate is 122Nm (about 700 lbs/in).
If someone wants to fit this Hyperpro spring to their R6 shock, part number: SP-YA06-SSB036
I will have my dogbones and top spacers fabricated (thanks for the Foccer, who provided drawings in another topic for all the parts).

  • Got my emulators from ebay. The title says: 41mm Fork Damper Valves TC-88 Softail Touring Dyna FXST FLST FXDWG FLT 2000-UP.
Have tried fitted these, they fit perfectly (see for pictures down below).
So, the questions:

1. R6 rear shock nuts & bolts. So, I guess I need to reuse the top bolt from the old shock, am I correct, or do I need to find another bolt (smaller)? Because R6 shock hole is smaller than the OEM shock.
2. Do I need to drill the R6 top hole for the old bolt? Or put in new (smaller) bolt. Will it fit & hold into place into old mounting holes?
3. Why I need top-spacers? Are they for smaller bolt or R6 shock top mount is thinner than OEM, so the spacers?

4. EMULATORS! First thing I wanted to do is just put them in forks and just saw off the same height (as the emulator body) from the fork spacer. Is this correct?
5. How many holes to drill into damper rod and how big? Can someone provide bore sizes? Looking at the Race-Tech instruction and Youtube, they usually drill like 5 or 6 holes.
6. Planning to use 15W oil (light rider, about 70kg when geared up). I can easy change the oil after if needed. Or do you recommend 20W straight away?

So the summary:
1. R6 shock top bolt and holes.
2. Damper rod holes & fork spacer changes for the emulator installation + oil viscosity.

Some photos of the build.

Hyperpro spring fitted + nitrogen refilled for the shock.

Plus, a couple of mods for the Fazer.
1. Akrapovič carbon-fibre titanium slip-on from FZ1
2. Gilles rearsets
3. Radiator cover
4. Brembo radial master cylinder from R1 (focced up mine, so this one needs a replacement)

  Ivanising - gone wrong
Posted by: BJohnD - 26-12-17, 01:51 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (6)

Well I managed to break the drill bit in the bypass holes, unfortunately just below the surface. Luckily I have been able, with watchmakers tweezers & an eyeglass, to remove the end of the broken drill.

Can anyone confirm the drill size, I measure it at .95 mm, but would like to confirm that. Next task is to find somebody who stocks that size locally....

Ohlins kit - what's in it?
Posted by: Lord_D - 25-12-17, 02:35 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (2)

When I bought my 2005 FZs it had an Ohlins shock with remote preload and a sticker on the forks.

The forks are very good and seem to respond to rebound and compression changes, but all I can find online are oil and spring kits.

Is that all that is likely to be in it? Or were there other internals that could have gone into it?

Cheers,

LD
