I have a mint 2001 FZS1000 with only 11k on the clock. As it is 13 year old I've decided to change the fork oil. I emptied the tubes and some smelly grey stuff came out so i'm glad I decided to change it. I need to re-fill the tubes...


Can anyone give me any advice on the weight of oil and the quantity/air gap to improve the forks without changing the springs?

If I were to replace the springs what would be the best/most cost effective way of improving the forks?

I have just fitted a brand new original shock to the bike.

I need a new set for the Fazer 8. Stock tyres are the Bridgestone 021's.  I've had bridgestones in the past and thought they were pretty hardwearing and grip seems ok, but as I need a full set I wondered what might be a good alternative. I only ride for fun and am not a particularly  fast rider, but I do like the bendies and twisties so any thoughts on a tyre with good cornering, reasonable durability and not too expensive?  Much appreciated.

Its like this. New tax disc has gone missing which means I can not go for a blast tomorrow. There are two possibilities:

1. Shredder the dog has taken a liking to it and has miraculously cleaned all evidence of it.

Or

2. Her indoors has either thrown it out or moved it so I is forced to have an enjoyable day with the in-laws tomorrow.

Either way, shredder the dog gets the bed as I is in the dog house tonight. At least it will be very quiet for the next 3 months  :grumble

well i got the bike out of the garage at last and went for a blast. not a perfect day as the vent snapped of of my shoie raid 2, and worst of all the throtle sticking. not sure if the cable needs lubing or something worse. it did not free up after a while and being opened and closed a few times. any suggestions (other then not leaving it in the garage cos its to cold)

hi all
i have a couple of 12v sockets ready to put on my bike and i want to wire them up so they only come on when the ignition is on.
one will be at the front (in the inner plastic fairing on the LHS as sat on the bike) and the other will be under the seat.
where can i take the power from to do this ?
any help would be appreciated.

hi all now my great little fazer has got a pround new owner I have found some more spare parts that I need clearing,set of coils with ht leeds,wiring loom,cdi unit,one great condition carb rubber,air box,centre stand mount,some used cables,engine side casings,starter motor,link pipe(stainless) and various other small bits and pieces,pm if your interested in 1 or all of them before I list them on flebay!

So my front brakes have been squeaking for a couple of months now but there is still brake pad on the because erm..they work 


Recently they have started making a crunching type of noise when I am riding along (not using the brake) before anyone says check the front brakes I plan on doing that tomorrow (today) and also sometimes in the morning when I come to start the bike I have to pump them normally I press them about 3-4 times for them to feel normal.


Anyway, any ideas/suggestions?
