  Crash bung test
Posted by: Davebo - 15-04-13, 03:10 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (6)

Successfully tested my crash bungs today.  :o Sad They did a cracking job but ... now I need to replace one of them.

They are Motrax DHMs and have a (roughly) triangular plate that bolts through the frame. Troiuble is the plate is bent. i don't want to straighten it as i think it will be weaker. Any ideas where I might get a plate / kit ?

Thanks, DBo.

I don't like the look of these cracks in my rear michelin pilot tyre so I think it time to get a nice new set of Michelin P3's fitted.... Wink

If I leave the bike as is, it doesn't start, it turns over, but doesn't start. If I unscrew the 8mm screw at the top and slide the tank down 1 cm it starts on the button. Wtf?

I felt it deserved a new topic.

  Front forks - Rebuild
Posted by: kevcl15 - 14-04-13, 08:02 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (14)

Hi all,
Stripped the forks off the Fazer tonight as one of the seals is leaking.
So, question is, how difficult are the forks to strip, clean, change seals and rebuild? I have Ohlins springs to go back in (been sat in the box for about 3 yrs now as just not had the time to sort out previously! :o :\ ), I've never stripped a fork before in my life but I'm reasonably handy with a spanner.
I've been looking around at firms that do fork servicing, and quite like the look of these as they do fork re-chroming as part of the "service" (there are some minor marks on the stanchions, but nothing major), but have no idea if the price is competitive or not? http://www.pittedforks.co.uk/price.php
Or, can anyone recommend someone for this type of service? I know a lot of you guys recommend the KTECH revalve/rebuild, but not really within my budget at the moment.
Any info/advice gratefully received.
Many thanks.
Kev CL

  FZ1 'lower' risers
Posted by: stevierst - 14-04-13, 04:25 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (16)

Just fitted the lower bar clamps to my fz1 with the original flat bars. It was just to get a bit more of a sporty stance as I thought the originals were a little too high. Its lowered the bars by about 2".

First ride impressions are pretty good. The bike seems to want to corner more sportsbike-like, but it could well be in my head.

Clearance is a bit tight in places, but everything clears the bits they should clear.

I was going to widen the bars slightly too, just waiting for my bar ends to come back from the machinist. Somehow I don't think ill manage it with the clearance 'issues'.

I'm going to test them over the next few weeks, and ill let you know if there are any problems

Hi Guys
Just to introduce myself, the name's Ade. Back to biking after a few years and recently bought a Gen 1 Fazer. Looking forward to a meeting a few of you at the Brum meet at the end of the month.
