WARNING! Dangerous Virus Going Around! Please Read! :)
Posted by: Enceladus - 02-08-13, 03:47 PM - Forum: General - Replies (2)

A highly dangerous virus called "Weekly Overload Recreational Killer" (WORK) is currently going around.
If you come into contact with this WORK virus, you should immediately go to the nearest "Biological Anxiety Relief" (BAR) centre to take antidotes known as "Work Isolating Neutralizer Extract" (WINE), "Radioactive UnWORK Medicine" (RUM), "Bothersome Employer Elimination Rebooter" (BEER) or "Vaccine Official Depression Killing Antigen" (VODKA).
Please repost to raise awareness !!!!!!!

  HEL Braided lines
Posted by: risticuss - 02-08-13, 01:34 PM - Forum: General - Replies (5)

Hi there guys and gals.

A thread was put up on 16th July by JoeRock about obtaining a 25% discount on HEL products:

http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,8879.25.html

I've messaged Joe and he said to bung this topic up too as I'd just bought my lines before he'd put up his topic.

I managed to find HEL Braided lines from these guys:

https://www.bctmotorcycles.co.uk/catalog...O9CCS9ITSg at £52.16 for a full set.

I was a little dubious at first so rang them up to confirm and indeed was billed £52.16 for plain black stainless ended lines with banjo bolts and washers.

The limitations are the plain colour sleeves and plain stainless ends, but if you're not after anything majorly fancy, then they're well worth it.

They did take 2 1/2 weeks to turn up, but this was mainly down to ordering on a monday morning, a comfirmation email going missing and then me getting off my arse to chase them up. Probably best to order over the phone Smile

So there it is, just trying to save everyone a little cash. Thanks to Joe for being understanding and for getting a discount for us as I may need some extra bits and bobs like line stays/splitters anyway.

Tyres - avoiding the square off?
Posted by: chriswarren - 02-08-13, 01:16 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (19)

Need to replace the tyres on my Gen 1 since both the back and front BT021s are really squared off i.e. the tyres almost have a V cross-section now!. Annoyingly the tread itself has still got loads of life left.
A few questions:
- will it fail an MOT on squared off tyres?
- the squaring off is presumably a result of the dual compounds in the tyre - are these the norm now or can you buy uniform compound tyres?
- can anyone recommend a good replacement tyre for my riding style - 95% commuting 10 miles each way, the odd fun weekend jaunt - no scratching / track days etc. - around 4000 miles/year. Am more interested in a good wear / price relationship than ultra sticky tyres. Thanks.

starting a bike thats been stood up for 2 years
Posted by: clayt74 - 02-08-13, 08:48 AM - Forum: General - Replies (19)

I have my old 125 that has been stood up for over 2 years now (the intention was to service it, clean it up and sell it 2 years ago... but riding my Fazer kept getting in the way)
I now have to get rid of it quick, its a single cylinder 4 stroke. I have drained and replaced the fuel and oil, cleaned air filter overhauled brakes cleaned spark plug and got some charge back into the battery.
Im now at the point to see if the bugger will start?? my question is should i do anything to try and prime the engine before trying to start it?
the fuel tap is a vacuum gravity fed type so im guessing the carb will be bone dry untill i turn it over a good few times. should i try putting a tiny amount of fuel and or oil into the top of the cylinder to try and aid turning the engine over and or getting it to fire?
any advice greatfully recieved.
cheers
