Always helpful if you list what year of bike you have in your profile, but i'd imagine they're all the same. (no.25 & no.14, but they are the same bolt and part number)

You can find the size and thread pitch from the workshop manual and then just buy them on eBay - I did this recently for the two rear caliper mounting bolts Smile

The download is here http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=8

The Front Brake caliper bolts should be M8 x 1.25

Unfortunately it doesn't show length BUT that is by far the easiest thing to measure Tongue Just remember that length is from the base of the bolt head to the end of the thread (so basically doesn't include the bolt head)

Re: 12mm front brake caliper bolts - mars696 - 03-08-13

Because i recently change them, the bolts are M10 x 1.25. The manual says M8 but its wrong.
I used 10.9 metric(which is 8 grade american).DOnt use soft bolts there! Wink
Hope it helps! Smile

Don't these bolts have to be of a certain tensile strength?

Really? I thought the rear were M10 and the fronts M8 especially since they take a different socket - at least that's the case on my bike :|

I'll check in a minute as I'm working in the garage today on the bike anyways Smile

Don't want to harp on about this, but I think it's actually pretty important. I believe the torque settings on these bolts are quite high, that's one reason for the tensile rating requirement. Also, if I remember right, they need to be Loctited in place when you refit them.

Nick,
If i remember well the oem bolts are 8 grade, wich is the equivalent of 10.9 in metric system.
Of cource we can use titanium bolts Big Grin  but the price is prohibitive. :'(

Re: 12mm front brake caliper bolts - nick crisp - 03-08-13

I just wanted to be sure that people don't just use any old bolts as the discussion here seemed to be more about sizes with no mention of other requirements. I know you'd already mentioned this mars696, but wanted to make sure people picked up on it. I've got nothing better to do, sorry!

You are right,safety first!!! Smile

Re: 12mm front brake caliper bolts - Dead Eye - 03-08-13

Well, my results were unhelpful... I forgot that the previous owner was a bit mad and so I have three different sized hex bolts holding my calipers on - 1x 14mm, 1x 13mm and 2x 12mm

If nothing else, my bike has character...

Re: 12mm front brake caliper bolts - darrsi - 03-08-13

No need to Loctite them, if they're torqued correctly they're going nowhere.
