  WANTED - A Fazer 400
Posted by: ChristoT - 05-11-13, 03:08 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

Hello all,

Just a tentative prod here - I'm looking for a Fazer 400, preferably mechanically sound. I'd like to spend a maximum of £1,000. Preferably in England or Wales (so I can travel to inspect it).

Thanks!  Smile

Now its november, the days are getting colder and winter is approaching. I was taught at school that winter comes once a year because the earths trajectory around the sun isn't perfectly round, its slightly oval, so for a few months of the yearly orbit we are further away from the source of heat and thus cooler.

I know that the earth spins on its own axis once every 24 hrs to create day and night, and it orbits the sun once every 365 ish days to create a year, but how come australia has their winter in july and their summer in december??? Surley in December they are just as far away from the sun as we are (minus the diameter of the earth, which is fek all when considering these distances)?
how come the whole planet isnt colder when it is further from the sun and hotter when it is nearer?

best tyres for fzs 600 in winter
Posted by: nickodemon - 04-11-13, 11:30 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (41)

I have a set of avon storm tyres on my recently purchased fzs 600. they have worn unevenly front and rear. when i picked up bike it had 12 psi front and 17 psi rear. The rear has squared off even though there is loads of life in the tyre and the front has worn correctly, as in more worn in centre than sides but feels bumpy running my hand front to back. Has anyone else used avon storms? Whats the tyre of choice for crap weather for the fazer?

  First Fazer 1000
Posted by: NorthWestern - 04-11-13, 06:29 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (17)

Hi All,

Got my first Fazer (first Yamaha really...) gen 1 1000.  Currently in the process of doing it up (it was a crash damaged one - fairing/headlights, no mechanical damage).

Winging its way to me are R1 forks, s1000RR shock, Renthal 758's (plus crossbar), an all alloy race radiator (my old man is making that), brand new R1 mudguard from China (cheaper than a second hand one ...).

Looking forward to getting out on it!  Wanted something less focussed than my Fireblade and the Fazer seems to fit the bill, its certainly comfy to sit on!

Removing the seat I see there is a toolkit and (on mine) a standard rubber bungie with nothing under it (near the fuel tank), what is supposed to be in there?

Fazer 1000 Gen 1 Grab Rails
Posted by: NorthWestern - 04-11-13, 06:24 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (3)

Hi,

Anybody have any gen 1 grab rails for a 1000?

Mine came with a full top box + rails (on eBay at the mo) which I have removed but now left with 4 nice square holes in the seat.

Need some grab rails, any colour really.

Cheers,
NW

For Sale: FZS600 Stock downpipes. Used, lots of holes, maybe repairable.
Posted by: Arfa - 04-11-13, 02:59 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (3)

Just replaced the downpipes on my Fazer 600. Thought I'd stick the old pipes on here in case someone feels they could repair them and get some more life out of them.

They're fine at the front, but underneath around the 4-into-1 they've corroded a lot and have a number of small holes. If you reckon you can make use of them, make me an offer. Don't mind posting them if needed.

  Questions about flying
Posted by: Farjo - 04-11-13, 01:38 PM - Forum: General - Replies (15)

Was thinking of getting a kindle, but then figured I could use my phone instead. So the 1st question - can you use a phone on a plane?

Second, has anyone put a rucksack in in the hold (or cargo or whatever 'checked-in luggage' is called)? Is there a way to secure the straps so they don't get damaged?
