A reasonable condition decal from the swinging arm that I can get copied. These used to be available new from Fowlers Yamaha. Part No 5LV-21668-00. But alas now N.L.A as many Gen 1 Fazer parts are rapidly becoming, :\ (The Gen 2 decal is available) If someone has a knackered swinging arm, the decal can be removed with little damage, see you tube.

I purchased a modified Fazer back in September and the previous owner put flatter bars on it. The front break master cylinder reservoir is not parallel with the brake lever. This means that now, when the bike is upright, the reservoir is sloped at an angle and not parallel with the floor.
I found out the problem with this the hard way. I went to drain the brake fluid while fitting new brake hoses. Took the cap off the reservoir and got covered in brake fluid. When replacing the fluid I had to lean the bike over to make sure I could put enough in without any spilling out.
Has anyone changed to flat bars? If so, did you do anything to make the reservoir level with the floor when the bike is upright? Maybe replace it with a different one from another bike? Or are you just careful when replacing fluid and bleeding your brakes?

I have a pair of forks which were off the second version of the R6 (2003-2005 5SL model) although it gained bling gold USD forks in 2005. They were on my Gen 1 for about 9 months until I upgraded to R1 units. They certainly perform better than standard forks. One of the forks has a leaking oil seal so you'd be looking at Right-Way-Up fork seals for the 5SL model made during 2003-2004. These are about £25 per pair. There are some marks on the chrome tubes where they have been clamped in the headstock. I think they are worth £150 plus postage. Anybody interested?
