According to my manual, this is the error code for a speed sensor fault.

Yup ceramic drive dog in the speedo is probably broken (assuming fzs600) taking off the front wheel or putting it back on can break it. Mine cost about £15 to replace but yamaha have to order it for you

If it's the lugs that are broken, the speedo just won't work, i don't think that it would give out an error code because it just wouldn't do anything, it'll just sit at 0mph!
An error code would suggest a wiring/speed sensor fault.

Darrsi - It's not the speedo that gives out the error code, its the TPS which monitors the connections and displays the error via the rev counter

This is direct from the manual as I had this issue, the most common cause is broken lugs as most have already suggested, especially if you've just had the wheel off.

Replacement part for the lugs can be ordered from here (Part 13-1); http://www.yamahamotorcyclespares.co.uk/spares/epc2.asp?modelID=9654&PageiD=41&m=YAMAHA+FZS600+Fazer+METER&uID=0

Granted its worth shopping around and checking Fowlers but at least it helps to know what you are after

That's what i was trying to say, broken lugs would not give an error code, the speedo just wouldn't register anything, as if the bike isn't moving!
