It was 685 miles! 4.30am start (pea soup on the M6 over Shap) and back home at 7.30pm.
My Zumo 550 didn't take me on the A68 Budgiemurray, but on the way to Stranraer, I was surprised it sent me via the A712 'The Queens Way' instead of the A75. I had it set on fastest route, so for most, The Queens Way would not suit that 'fastest' tag, but have to say, what a choice! Deserted too, there and back - it was early - between 8 and 10am. My tyres are knackered now though, much like my legs - I ain't as fit as I was and like you say Gringorojo, kept moving and while not quite fresh as a daisy, made it back in comfort. A far better motorcycle than the 'Bird innit. I get more saddle sore on the 'Wing. Am addicted to the way the Fazer (mines full monty) pulls so strong outta corners. Attached a coupla photies as requested. Loved the road away from Moffat, the A708 past the Grey Mares tail toward Selkirk. Stunning scenery and wonderful road, but the patchwork road repairs are a nightmare, potholes galore filled with stone chippings strewn everywhere, scary at times, dangerous mostly. Local council should be ashamed. Plenty of other bikes out and about, only saw one other Fazer 1000 though and there were millions of R1200GSA's / midgies too!
Always sleep uneasy after a run like this though. Usually for a fortnight and panic when I see the postman, don't think I missed any cameras and doubt plod was hiding in the trees at OMG o'clock on a Sunday morning!
Used about £90 worth of unleaded, averaged about 49mpg. Left fork seal's deffo blown, head bearings need tightening, must get new brake lines and speak with Ron Maxton over winter. New tyres and removal of AIS. Lots to do and enjoy over winter. It's been a perfect day! Cheers all.
