Anyone know what size adapters I need for carb balancing? 5mm? And any ideas for accessing that no 3 mixture screw? V interesting problem...

Is that the one that needs the long #2 screwdriver?

It just needs to be a long star screwdriver, with a thin shank (you can grind the shank down a bit if need be). For clearance.

Try a pair of long nose pliers and turn an eighth at a time.

No. I did mean the mixture screw. I removed the carbs when the engine was running pretty badly, having been balanced by 2 bike shop.Removing the carbs  I found one mixture screw had completely fallen out! I replaced it, and set mixture screws to 2.25 turns out (they had been all over the place.) Instant improvement, almost perfect. Going to 2.5 turns on 3 screws made things deteriorate so now I want to reduce to 2 turns and that no 3 screw is v hard for my fat fingers to get at. I know Yam make a special tool but I wondered if anyone had any tips for getting round that.

Tough one this...ive been looking for a sidewinder tool for a while now.its a racthet screwdriver with the usual changeable heads but with a right angle head and a small t bar on the end of the handle to operate the rachet....small and lightweight idea for this job.....otherwise, as you know its carbs off a small tweek and back on again, reapeted untill its "just right"....very time consuming....was'nt aware of the yam tool, do you know how much they are ?

I refuse to remove the carbs just to tweak 1 carb, I WILL cobble something together

Cant see that yam tool working.....I do like the sealey tool though.little bit expensive but a great time saver....might just look into this a bit more...

Damn, i was flicking through an old post yesterday and somebody wrote "You need to check the TPS after a carb balance because....." and i didn't read any further!

".....When you balance the carbs you change the position of the flaps on carbs 1, 2 and 3 relative to 4 where the TPS is. So you can (depending on how much you adjust them) put the TPS out of adjustment. Hence the check....."
