Does it involve a lamp post?

No. The lampposts of Cambridgeshire are intact.

Some other solid, unyielding object then?

:woot :woot :woot :woot  Noggy wins!!!!!

What's my prize?.......some free fuel :rolleyes

Did you stick one of those standard issue French Baguettes in the tank to soak it up.

Can safely say i've never done that but my wifes step dad stuck £80 of petrol in his diesel 4x4 last week before he realised, he had a big Kia Sorento...had it towed to the stealers....about £300 later he got it back but he had driven it about 6 miles :o .

Yep. Luckily, I didn't start the engine. The car got delivered home by the RAC, still cost £28. Beats the £199 they wanted to pump it out!

Will drain the tank either tomorrow or Saturday.

bit of a result there mate. if you had started it, it would be more than £29 worth in headaches for you, if nothing else.

Would you spend £3.99 to save up to £3000 ?

You would if you had a Diesel Vehicle.

Every year over 1.5 Million fuelling errors occur ! Don't be one of them. Petrol wrecks and can destroy diesel engines. Petrol in a Diesel engine will cause catastrophic damage that will result in the engine having to be stripped down and rebuilt, and the entire fuel system will have to be drained and cleaned !!

Can you manage without your vehicle whilst this is been done, the costs are up to £3000 let alone additional costs such as hire cars, towing in and the sheer inconvenience.

Simply attach the low cost FUELRITE wobbler inside the fuel filler cap. This then serves as a warning to ANYONE fuelling the vehicle... Ideal for company fleets with multiple fuel vehicles and ideal for families were people drive and fuel assorted cars.

FUELRITE clear visible warning fitted in seconds.

WARNING
If you ever put the wrong fuel in a Diesel Tank DO NOT START THE ENGINE !!
£2.99 (Including VAT at 20% and FREE UK DELIVERY :)

engine having to be stripped down and rebuilt

Sounds right up your street........when does the new build thread start? :b

Hey! What did I do to deserve that...

Besides this; Christo, you complete and utter motoring failure of epic proportion...

I've drained the fuel from a 306 before... but that was because the head gasket blew and I wasn't sending the thing to the scrap yard with a full tank of fuel :P

I was a little concerned initially when I got my first petrol car, after having driven 3 diesels, about putting the wrong fuel in; however somehow I manage to identify the correct nozzle at the pump each time I visit :D

I know exactly how I did it...

The fuel station I go to in Chatteris has the diesel nozzle on the far right as you look at it. Also, the garage I was at, I've only been to twice before on the ZX-4 (petrol). I was going to go over to Deefer's, it had been a long day, I was in a hurry, pulled up, grabbed the nozzle, and stuck it in without thinking. Then put in £10. It was only when I was replacing the nozzle I twigged "Hang on, that wasn't diesel. Oh fuck."

Human error all the way...  :rolleyes

Wait does that mean you aren't blaming some 3rd party, the pump, or the alignment of the planets for this incident?!  :eek :eek :eek
