If you have done the "making both lights work on dip mod"  then I don't think you will gain much improvement with the box eye headlamps,  you could end up melting the lens assembly by going more amps route. I tried better bulbs in my car but there was not much improvement, I suppose HID lamps are an option ,but iv'e no experience of them , expensive to !

Osram Nightbreakers or Philips Xtreme

You should really get the mod done as well though, one light only is simply not good enough in the dark.

I just fited another headlamp box into my fazer bcus the one init had a crack in the perspex.
Anyway both my head lights come on with low beam and inside the headlamp box I took off, I noticed the silver coating had melted and the bulb holder has started to crumble and disintegrate from constant heat.   Is this normal from a modded fazer with having both bulbs come on for low beam?

They are fragile anyway (bloody useless) but i'd imagine it's been caused by bulbs that were too hot.
That's why i always suggest using plastic friendly bulbs, although that's more to do with stopping the lenses from discolouring.
I wrapped strips of amalagamating tape around my bulb holder to keep the heat away and to stop the very annoying vibration.
Not sure about what you can do with it, but with a bigger hole maybe you could upgrade it to an H4 instead?
I just took that silver shroud thing off as it was falling off anyway, i think that's quite a common issue.

I took my silver shroud off too. It was flapping around as most of the reflector had disintegrated. MOT was no trouble like this. And I'm pretty I got more light out the front too!

Interesting thing is that when I came to completely upgrade my headlights with projector units, I had to cut away at the reflector (which, incidentally, was flaking waaay worse than yours Gav! You've got a good one!). The plastic immediately around where the headlight fitted just crumbled away like I was dremmelling a sand castle! But it then became INCREDIBLY hard! Blunting a few of my cutting tools and wearing out abrasive attachments in seconds.

Good work Yamaha, complete materials specification FAIL!

I got a pair of H1 and H4 osram nightbreakers for around £25 delivered from Amazon - one set fitted, one set under the seat.  Not too bad

BUT!
Although the light is MUCH better than before, it's still not great!
So i'm awaiting some HID's from China... 1x H1 and 1xH4, £23 delivered.  Will let you's know how they go

The lights on the Fazer are worse than any bike i've ever owned, which is a real shame.  :\

Might put a couple of tea lights in the headlamp box before I ride mine in the dark again.  Might be able to see something then.
