What is your offer of £150 for? Just the box or are you expecting the rack too? 4

General / Re: Finally used my "super wrench"« on: 14 June 2014, 03:33:16 pm »
Still not used mine in anger on a bike but I was changing the shocks on the cage and they're held in with a weird nut with a cross shaped head.
You can buy dedicated sockets but for a once every 5 years job it isn't worth it, so out came my Ideal World shopping channel Super Wrench. Job done. For unusual bolts or rounded off heads, they're superb. 7

Fork lowering AND jack-up come highly recommended by me for improving handling (dependant on your current starting point).
Fork lowering was covered here in this thread http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,3079.0.html and jack-up here http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,3123.0.html Hope this helps... 8

The last time I checked, young people had more than the two options of, being abusively drunk, or killing humans for a living. The majority of society live their lives by simply getting an education, getting a job, contributing positively to society and raising children that will go on to do the same. By any measure, THAT'S the brightest and best way for anyone to live their life. 10

Well after 2 weeks of nothing, 880(!!!) page views, and 32 watchers, it sold tonight for £2000. Nice bloke (aren't they all when they buy ) came up all the way from Basingstoke to Crewe and rode off my drive around quarter to midnight!
AND just after his first call, another guy who's parents live just yards away, was up for £2000 as well. Seems the ad was alright after all. There's ALWAYS someone out there but there's a shed load of pi55 taking chancers at the moment. Now for the cage hunt... ALL comments were gratefully received 13

It's rubbish when your bike's usage isn't what you planned for, whichever way it works.
Either by not getting out enough or having to use it more than you'd like. I feel for you. When you've put up some pics, I'll chuck in another two pen'orth re: value 15

MPG for my current Gen1 1000 over 5 months and 3000 miles...
Best 46 Worst 37 Average 42.5 Longest distance between fill ups 194 miles. I could have got more but not enough to see me to the next available petrol station. There's a Gen1 owner on here who's got 250+ miles out of a tank. If you're interested, I'm selling mine here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160855044446?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649#ht_946wt_1186 16

For Sale & Wanted / Re: For Sale 2002 Gen1 1000...... Now with added Youtube!« on: 07 August 2012, 09:14:07 pm »
Hello Kaybee,
£2100 is the minimum. However if you're not fussed about the crash bungs and hugger I'll whip them off and you can have it for £2000. Don't forget, the bike needs nothing. No point picking up a bargain for 1700 then spending £300 on tyres, brakes, service etc. Cheers, Simon 18
General / Re: Bike Sale... So What Am I Doing Wrong?« on: 07 August 2012, 12:54:46 pm »I'll definately be keeping an eye on the sale though.TBH. There won't be anything to keep an eye on. It will either sell for at least £2100 or I'll keep it. As each week passes I'm saving more towards buying the car I need without selling up. Not ideal but the bike won't be given away. I am prepared to sell but I don't HAVE to. If I can manage to be nice enough with the ex for the next month, I know she'll let me use her car. So for 30 days of tongue biting I don't have to take a big hit on the Fazer. Given what I've heard and experienced so far, having two vehicles is looking the likeliest. There's quite a large part of me that will be, happy with that.... 19

General / Re: Bike Sale... So What Am I Doing Wrong?« on: 06 August 2012, 02:16:40 pm »On a serious note take a look of the 2001 blue (the best colour) bike a couple places from yours on eBay bike is in Maidstone kent 30k on the clock, nice reg plate evo ! has genuine belly pan, twin high level cans, genuine yam touring screen the expensive one and many other extras new c/s and fresh mot he offered me the bike for £1800 and said its very tidy, taking that into account if a dealer offered you £1800 I'd take it.Cheers for the message CT. Had a look at that bike but tbh, there's nothing about it that makes me think I should accept £1800 for my '02 reg. His is an X-reg for a start. Colour is totally subjective and plays no part. If you like it, you like it..... and the blue, I don't. On the subject (if you will) of subjectivity, those exhausts imho are gopping. Also not convinced on the number plate either. Pretty sure DVLA still don't allow transfers of reg's between different classes of vehicle, so unless Mitsubishi make an Evo bike, or the buyer has an Evo obsession, it's pointless. Been a while since I did a cherished transfer, so I'll stand to be corrected. Don't get me wrong, it looks like it's been well cared for, but a bit too personalised for me. I think that letting mine go for around £2150, wouldn't be such a bad deal for someone... It's an interesting debate this, as it's really showing the range of what people find to be ideal in their new purchase and how they can be turned on, or off by something relatively minor. Thanks again. 21
General / Re: Bike Sale... So What Am I Doing Wrong?« on: 05 August 2012, 06:08:10 pm »You wanted honest opinions so I'd make the following pointsCheers Bob! Some of your points actioned immediately. Left the price as there's a Make Offer button if anyone disagrees. Left in the corrosion pic. The bike isn't mint and saves time with nasty surprises. Left the general size and detail of the ad. Can't be ar5ed answering simple questions plus it annoys the hell out of me when sellers omit basic details. Thanks for your input! (When I say that, I MEAN it!) 22

General / Re: Bike Sale... So What Am I Doing Wrong?« on: 05 August 2012, 05:21:19 pm »Thanks guys for the input. Glad to see I'm not totally out with my approach to selling. Hard to know where to start with your responses but here goes..... Have you tried phoning round a few dealersDid that prior to advertising, to try for a no-nonsense sale..... The £1800 best offer by a bike dealer for a straight purchase is looking more attractive by the day oh, and you have let chancers know you have to get shot of it.I have put that I'm only selling because I really need a car. Didn't stop one clown asking if I'd take his 1998 VFR 800 plus £500!? me i'd buy it £6,66 lolThought I recognised the ebay name Luke. I take it you received my auto decline for your offer If I'd accepted your £6.66 for a whole bike, that would have made the belly pan you bought off me, the most expensive piece of plastic ever I also think that Classified Adverts perform far less well than auctions. In my experience, Classifieds with best offer on Ebay always get me what I want and make the best sense cost and timewise. £16 one-off fee for 28 days, no final value fee, plus you can weed out the nonsense automatically with your offer acceptance parameters. AND you don't have to wait til the end of an auction only to be told lots of BS excuses for why the winning bidder can't proceed. I'm gonna stick to my guns for now. My previous bikes have taken about 3 weeks to sell for what I wanted. It's just that I normally have a LOT more (reasonably) decent offers to consider before the right one comes along. I'll put it down to the Olympics... for now 25
Feck me, how lucky is this guy? Almost looks CGI'd. I keep watching the part where you first see the dear and it LITERALLY appears out of nowhere! |
