Rear Brake REALLY GOOD

Hi guys ,just wondering if anyone can enlighting me reguarding the rear brake,,
it seems to be VERY GOOD,,just a small touch and it is close to locking up rear wheel ,is this norm and just need to get used to it.
No bother with my 600 ,cheers

Yep, they're all like that sir??. Without doubt the best rear brake I've encountered in 60 + years of motorcycling.

Adjust it to have more travel before the biting point. Give your foot a bit of space to move

Mine used to be brilliant but since changing the 20 year old fluid it’s not as good! Dragged some air in I think and not got it all out.  Blush

Hi Trebus,guy i got it from says he has changed the fluids recently so wont bother with that ,,it does look clean ,cheers

Just a thought, it might have some aggressive pads in there. You could try some organic pads if you want to calm it down a bit.

Good shout ,,, it is new pads and disc done recently,,will leave them to see if they settle down but if not will try the organic pads  Thumbup

Loosen the bleed nipple and remove the caliper, then suspend it above the brake reservoir with the bleed nipple uppermost.

Leave it overnight and all the air should bubble to the top, then gently pump the brake (with a piece of wood between the pads!) until you get only fluid coming out.

Reclose the nipple, remount the caliper then tighten the nipple up fully Thumbup

Don’t forget there are 2 bleed nipples, the one round the back often gets forgotten.

Rear's a sharp brake on OEM rubber hoses, fit teflon braided & OMG way too powerful.
Yamaha obviously dropped a bollock fitting a massive twin piston caliper.
Rear can be a proper mare to bleed too, had to bleed mine off the bike with pads blocked & caliper hung higher than master cyl.

yeah ,think i will go with the calliper hanging up version ,cheers for awe the replies guys

As I mentioned, just remember to loosen the bleed nipples *before* you take the caliper off the bike, because trying to do it when they're hanging up is a real PITA!

Agreed mate! ... Fitted EBC HH's all round, probly why mine's in the OMG zone, reckon i'll fit a lesser spec pads in the rear when these EBC's are done, might be a while as I've got out of the habit of using rear brake on this bike due to the brake being a bit vicious, tried Goldfren Carbon Ceramic, decent stopping power, noisy as fook & make a ton of brake dust, so they had to go, always seem to end up back with good Ole EBC's.

I've always used genuine Yam pads. Very expensive, but work, and prolong the disc life.

I have been using EBC HH fall round for years never an issue, ( I did replace the discs alround at 80000 mile mark)
It was easy to lock up the rear in a until I increased the play in the lever to jut lock close to the limit of my foot movement.
Discoverd this when adjust in the rear brake to allow for my limited upward movement of my ankle (accident injury) and had to lift my leg to up to press the brake which was taking to long and making it more prone to locking the rear in an emergency.
