Rear brake rebuild
#1
Have a fzs600 2002. Bought some rear caliper break seals of wemoto. The piston seal fitted like a glove but the dust seal was a struggle. Looks to big but does fit with a bit of faffing.

Trying to put the piston back into the caliper and it won't budge past the the dust seal anyone got advice ?

Cheers

Have you fully scraped out any corrosion that’s in the groove. Sometimes hard to see but can make the difference. I have known aftermarket dust seals to be a bit hit and miss, sometimes you can get away with reusing the old one. In a bind I’ve had them where they’ve expanded and cut a small section out, then glue back together. Not ideal but can work!

Use plenty of Red Rubber Grease.
More people are born because of alcohol than will ever die from it.

I scraped out all the corrosion, was like white dust. They really seem to just be around 2-3mm to big. The old ones are in the bin. Might try cutting and gluing.

Buy them here instead, great to deal with and they specialise in brakes, both car and bike.

Looking at their site they can do our rear brake rebuild for £45. Sounds good to me -send it in and let them do the whole thing and deal with any seized bits.
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.

Got the brake seal kit from power house on order. And the brakes are fully taken apart and cleaned so they are ready to go back together.

Slippy, if you still have the Wemoto dust seals can you let us know if they're larger/difference between them & the Powerhouse ones when they arrive please.
