You should be able to but I agree it's stupid to do so. Why ride a 40k bike in London anyway? If I was commuting into a city centre I'd be on a FZS or some other cheap bike....oh hang on.

2 grand or 40 grand makes no odds, I think he thought safer in the middle of soho square than most places it's busy and I've got an alarm and a security chain a 2 grand R1 is just as much a thief magnet and I've seen stolen recovered fazers on salvage sites so we're all at risk from similar scumbags.
How do any of us protect against thieving shits with a cordless grinder and drill like those on the clip and willling to try it in daylight with the alarm going off.
i foccing hate thieves lowest of the low in my book

Not the first time this has happened in London. Their other tactic (again two up on a scooter) is to pull up by you at the traffic lights, then push you off your bike. The pillion then rides off on yours. Good on other bikers and the public for stopping them. Next time hopefully they'll get caught.

A friend of mine has had 2 bikes nicked with in 12 months. All securely locked and tagged . His first loss 2011 Z100-SX nearly 90 K on the clock so dumped who the feck would want that, recovered. His latest near loss some fancy BMW thing, recovered , over £5k damage in repairs. He used these bikes to commute, now runs an NCX Honda thing.Has to be the best bike security out there, who the fuck would want to steal that, lol :rollin All central London area.

Don't know what the f--k I would do?
But if it was my bike, I want to hang on to it more than they want to steal it, I personally think their best bet would be to find an easier prey.
I'm only 12.5 stones but it would be 12.5 stone of of Fug Ugliness if my Fazer was at risk. But I guess it takes you completely by surprise. I guess we just have to be aware of what is happening around us, especially if two on a scooter or smaller bike pull up behind us keep your eye on them in the mirror and if one swings his leg over the back end pull away my guess he would jump back on the scooter as you moved off.

Hope i never experience it so I will never have to find out how I would respond, I am not a naturally aggressive bloke but I am very guarded about the things that important to me.

I recall in Petersfield about 20 years ago my Mrs and I was walking along the High Street with my 3 year old daughter, I was holding her hand and the Mrs was holding Jack my 5 year old son's hand we were waiting to cross the road to go to a shop on the other side and a yellow Escort XR3i rag top came hammering down Lavant Street hung a hard right at speed into the High St, lost it and hit the kerb right in front of us I dragged my daughter back by the hand but his wing mirror caught in the hood of her little jacket, snatched her out of my hand and spun her up the road about 5 or 6 feet and dumped her on the pavement, I grabbed her took a quick look and handed her to the Mrs and ran up the road to where the XR3i was stopped up against the kerb. He was a big lad but the Red Mist had come down I was punching him in the side of his face and trying as hard as I could to pull him out of his opened door, I noticed his knuckles were white as he was gripping the steering wheel, there was no way I was going to budge him I was throwing every f--k and blind into him I could think of as I was punching him. I probably hit him 7 or 8 times as hard as I could, to start with through his open window then the open door. It was strange something happened in my head and I became aware of 30 or 40 people on either side of the street watching and some of them with young children not much older than mine. I slammed his car door as hard as I could hoping to smash something and that is when I realised tears were streaming down my face with uncontrollable rage and fear. My daughter was fine although very shook up by the ordeal. I apologised to some of the people as we walked off back to the car park and home. But that whole episode showed me how easy it would be to kill someone, at that point in time, when that red mist had come down had I a knife in my hand I would have driven into him, I hated him so bad for what he did. What he did to my daughter really frightened me and the way I responded also really frightened me, in the Red Mist of outright rage we are capable of things we would normally not even think about let alone do.Oh! back on target: Please don't nick my Fazer :'(

I was knocked off a Bandit once by some joyriders being chased by the police. They dumped the car up the road and one came running towards me being chased on foot by a fat old policeman. Despite my cuts and bruises my adrenaline kicked in, and I managed a 'citizen's arrest'. No red mist but he certainly wasn't getting away. The Bandit was a write off, but then again it was only a bandit.....

PISS I had typed a massive reply all with spelling corrected and everything and then lost it.So again, In a nut shell
Tommy - you experienced instinct
No court would convict if thats where you ended up
I will be more warey of 2-up scooterists from now on.
Would they target a 98 600 Fazer
Especually after my bike has been on the floor it worth less than the scooter they jumped off (although nicked I suppose )
The remaining scooter scum is now pretty vunerable to me going feral on him

To solve this there should be a change in the law to make it illegal for scooter riders to wear a helmet so they cant hide or be protected from have - a - go citizens.
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.

It's not the thievery I was really meaning. I was more thinking the chances of getting your bike damaged in a city must be higher due to the concentration of traffic. Hence why I'd only use a cheapish bike.

Hi Sharpie,
No! I never heard a thing about it, no one questioned me at the time (That was probably a wise thing on their part right there and then)
Since that happened I have thought about it a number of times, it really is not in my general nature to respond like that, most people who know me would say I'm a bit of a lad and a right softy, and i think that's right to, even to the point that I looked at that incident again in my mind a couple of years later and ended up feeling sorry for the poor guy.
There is not many of us that hasn't done stupid things showing off on motor bike or in cars, and sometimes that is when things go tits up.
I honestly believe that is what happened to the guy that day, lots of people about so rapid round the road junction, squeal the tyres impress everyone.
Then he hits this little girl and she ends up scattered up the pavement, he must have heard it when he hit her then saw her lying on the pavement in his rear view mirror, how did that poor bastard feel at the time, he probably thought he deserved everything I threw at him.
I am glad looking back at it through calm eyes that I could not get him out of the car, and, to a degree he protected himself by leaning over to the passenger side further way from me, i wasn't able to give him my best shots. six or seven angry blows to the head can cause a lot of damage.
So all in all it ended up well, and if I ever met the guy again I would probably apologise for the way I responded.
But as you say Sharpie the instinct to protect what is yours kicks in and takes over, hence the term to be out of control.

Anyway its all a long time ago, daughter turned out alright she is now a 22 year old little stunner that graduated with a first degree at UEA, and, is going on to do a Masters Degree next year (Dr).
She is one really fit young lady, she is into yoga big time and has done well in a number of inter-university surfing competitions, usually second. Apparently the girl who always seems to win the competitions is much better than most of the guys who enter the men's competition, she has also done one the biggest bungee jumps in the world into a canyon in South Africa.
She is by far the bravest one in our family.
You can probably tell I real proud of her, and I have to beat the boys off with a club. LOL :lol
