Its the same story as the FZS600 being replaced with the FZ6. New EU rules.

Well let's face it , it was always going to be Honda bailing out of this class first. Honda are losing the will to compete in the bike market I reckon. There arrogance and treatment of dealers over the last 10 years or so has prompted a lot of dealers to say feck off Honda, we can only make money as a multi franchise dealer.
Do Honda actually make anything anyone on here would want to buy? certainly not for me.

I'd say it's more to do with "the massive drop in sales" "the profit margins for manufacturers is tiny". Regulations or no regulations if no one is buying them they're not going to make them

The size of the market for out & out sports 600s is decreasing in the UK while sales of other categories like Yamahas MT07 & Tracer have boomed along with all the adventure style bikes. Honda havent responded to changing customer demand and are probably content to shift lower capacity bikes in emerging markets in higher volume.

Speed camera's in the UK probably not helping sales either, you could loose your licence on anything over 599cc in 1st gear

Quote:well were leaving the EU, so Honda can start building their motorcycles here. Well no. Honda started making cars in the UK so they could have open access to the single EU market. Previous to that they were restricted as to how many cars they could bring into the UK and other European countries. If Honda did wish to open a manufactuering plant in the EU (not that they do) the UK at this time is not an option for them. Meanwhile bear in the mind that with the pound devalued, and if it doesn't recover - of which so far it shows no sign of doing so - then we face price hikes for imported goods. That should seal the fate of the 600 super sport catagory if nothing else does.

:agree
Honda still make (or at least assemble) motorbikes in Italy, lawnmowers in France and Cars in the UK. They also have the homologation department in Belgium.
