Been trying to figure out which of those places I went, and which I didn't see. Some are obvious, but can't get others. Glad someone else was able to make best use of the weather too, nice one Dick.

Once in Scotland isn't enough though, I'll definitely be looking to go again sometime. It is quite a big place!

See map below
Pink route up to base from Yorkshire, skirting round Edinburgh and stopping overnight at Killin before heading over Glencoe to Fort William and setting base at Poolewe, about 30 miles south of Ullapool.
Red route from base to Ullapool and on to Durness (following the coast where possible) across to Tongue, south to Lairg and back to base.
Blue route south to Applecross, over the pass and north around the coast, then on to Plockton, over skye bridge to Portreee and Uig before returning along the east coast by Staffin and Loch Carron Lock Marie back to base.
Green routes just local access roads near to base camp before a long trek home the next day by Inverness and A9 to Edinburgh and Newcastle.

I will try and add locations to pictures posted....They are not in order of route taken.
Midges will appear after end of May....sorry.
I suspect mine (and Hedgetrimmer's) weather was not typical of Scotland!
Hope you enjoy your trips..Don't underestimate the mileage involved, it's a big country. The blue route alone is about 350 miles!

I got chatting to a chap at the Hartside today who was telling me about a couple of Scotland routes I've yet to do, so will have to investigate some time. Going to peruse the map in a minute and see if I can't figure out where he was talking about.

Was definitely nice not to have to deal with midgies, although I didn't camp this time. Been a mild winter too, so I suspect they will be quite bad this year?

Me and a few Suzuki lads done very north coast 500 inspired run at the start of May, we stayed in a Bunkhourse up by Lairg for one night, was superb hospitality by the young family that owns the place so would recommend for any visitors to the highlands. They have a bar so you can have a beer at night, plenty parking and good food.

They have en-suite rooms in the hotel part too.
