lengthening sidestand to use with jack up kit

Another question guys as couldn't find any info using Search. What's the best method of lengthening the sidestand when using jack up dog bones. I have heard that building up the "foot" with weld can cause the return spring to become a bit overwhelmed by the increased weight. As always, any input much appreciated.

I have a jack up kit fitted and the rear raised further from my Nitron shock being set to maximum ride height. The side stand works fine, sure there's a bit more lean but I don't feel there's any chance of the bike falling over. The rear wheel skims the floor on the centre stand making lubing the chain a modicum more difficult but that's about it.
Raising the rear to put more weight over the front makes the bike much more agile and I'd definitely recommend it.

If you've got one knocking about that you don't need, that would be great. Thanks. PieEater, What lift have you gained from the dog bones alone, I was thinking of the 25mm ones from Devilsyam. A decent adjustable height shock is on my list but not this year. I just had it in mind that if the bike was loaded with camping stuff, the extra lean could result in it all going Pete Tong. I notice that there is a new German eBay seller on the block that is doing them at 20mm / 35mm / 50mm I'm now considering getting the 50mm ones as I'll have better control over the ride height with my shock rather than just having to have it on maximum - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jack-up-Kit-Ya...1787930549 You have a point about luggage but personally I'd be using the centre stand if I had the bike loaded up regardless. If you're still on the OEM shock then another advantage of a jack up kit is that it slightly alters the suspension geometry making the shock feel firmer.

This is what we do on the KTM's where changing ride height / wheel sizes (off road vs SuperMoto) is a common occurrence.

Thanks for the link to the German site, that's useful. Yeah, I can see how you'd be able to get quite a bit of height adjustment back into your shock to save it being max'd out, seems a no brainer. Regarding the sidestand, I was just thinking ahead imagining the jack up would cause issues. If I can get hold of another sidestand to "play" with at least if the kit causes a problem I'll have something to work with. Thanks again Robbo. Hi Markie, Wow what a great idea, thanks for that. the KTM Adventures / SuperEnduro's are all over 200kg once a few off road protection items are added, and being taller put more leverage on the stand. As long as the threaded part is strong enough (and keep it as short as possible) you'll be good. cheers Markie

Can't remember where I got it, looks like it has been done well, I got when I was going to put a jack up kit on, but whit the r 1 front end it is lower on the front anyway.
