FZ1 Fazer consumption.
#1
Hello there.
I'm new to this forum. I just bought a Yamaha FZ 1 Fazer.  From 2009.  It's really the best bike i ever had.
Need to know one thing. At 85-90 mph i make 220 km maximum.  The tank has 18 liters. With other bikes i could ride 300 km with same tank and same speed and more hp.  Please help.  Is this consumtion normal for fz1 ? It's not about the money.  I bought this bike to make many kilometers. It bothers me a bit that i have to stop every 200 km to refuel.  Or does my bike have a problem ?
By the way, i'm from Romania so please don't lough. My english is terible, i now.  Smile))))
I really hope that you can tell me what to expect.  I will keep this bike because i like it very much. But i want to know: should i go to a Yamaha Service or not.... ?????

Sometimes the last bar will start flashing after 90 miles.

Not to rub it in or anything, but had you got the older gen1, you would get 200 miles instead of 200 km.  :evil

I think the above link is the thread Noggy mentioned, have a read of that and you will see that your fuel consumption is perfectly normal.

Nothing wrong with your  english either, there are not many of us on here who know even one  word of Romanian Smile

I'm with Paul smith, could never understand why people went for the slower gen 2  when the gen 1 looks better, will become a classic quicker and is capable of over 250 miles on a single tank of normal riding  Big Grin  Sorry, am I rubbing it in ?  :evil

Ha ha that's why I sold my gen 1 - went like stink but stank like a tramp's trollies ha ha!

Not really - it was a brilliant bike for distance work and 45-50MPG all day long. 200 miles between fills.

Most I had was 180mpg......150 if I wind it up tryin to chase other foccers down....u had 250 Dazza ?? U musta been ridin with ur grandad googles on lol.....I remember seeing a gen1 at the brum meet that'd  had the top of the tank cut off and a 1.5 inch (ish) section welded in and finished perfectly.  I wonder how much that upped the fuel load and range.
Just flapping about on this stagnant little pond on the outer rim of the internet.....yup....  :-))

Oh yeah that was Tim. He does the national rally so it was a real good mod for him. There is s thread on it on the other Fazer forum (fzs1000.co.uk) I can't remember off the top of my head how much extra - I think he may have also fitted another little tank somewhere so I seem to remember him talking about 300-350 miles between fills!

You do know your bike has more than 3 gears, don't you Exupnut ? and if I remember correctly, I think I was following you for most of it. :b

180mpg is pretty bloody good going, with a 21L tank that works out at a range of about 800 miles  :b
