Dodgy sale?
#1
I noticed this gen 1 for sale. It is supposed to have only 6200 miles , but it's had eight owners and the seller seems to be going to extreme lengths to say the bike is legit... I also noticed the tank badge is not original...

Dont know if he is legit, I reckon he is on drugs. Personally, I would never buy a bike with even 4 owners but some folk do.

If I were advertising one I would be trying to emphasise my personal connection with it, mods I had made and talking about my experiences with it.

I dont want an advert that is a typed out HPI report I will be getting my own HPI report before I part with any cash.

You'd never buy a bike with more than 4 owners ? :rollin  to be fair to the seller boys I think your being a bit paranoid, if your an interested buyer do an HPI and check it out yourself. If I were in the market for one I'd certainly be interested in this bike

The main reason i would be worried is that it has had 8 owners and none of them have done 1000 miles... Seems very unusual. i asked for the reg no to do a dvla check myself, but he said two people are viewing today, so he won't give me the reg...

The reg no. is in the eBay ad isn't it
Biking is about the Journey NOT the Destination...

Yeah the reg is in the advert, sure its had a few owner vs the miles but I'm pretty sure that a lot of bikes are out there these days and do no more than a thousand miles a year, I bet more than half the bikes in the UK are just toys these days. I don't even know what I've done this year......maybe 1500 tops :rolleyes . Some of the eight owners might have done more than the next guy, if it really bothers you that much just leave it and go to a dealer. I know quite a few folk won't go near ebay...nowt wrong with that if you can afford to pay dealer prices for that piece of mind so to speak

The reg is on the ad but dvla only tell that its mot'd and taxed and the year it was put on the road. I don't want to buy it! I just thought it was a strange ad that looked hard to believe :eek

No of owners or mileage wouldn't normally bother me, as long as its reflected in the price which I think it is here, however, the clutch, timing and cam covers have been repainted, badly, I would expect a bike in much better condition.
One, is never going to be enough.....

If I recall you only need the reg number and make to do an HPI check ? I'm pretty sure the DVLA have nothing to do with a HPI check :rolleyes

Correct Smile  I was simply putting a post about a bike that i thought was open to debate about the mileage of a bike that is 12 years old and has had 8 owners and 6200 miles. The tank has been resprayed and the engine has also has been repainted.

Maybe it has only done 1,006,200 miles?  Big Grin That said, the foot pegs and bar ends look like new. I wish mine did.

Last MOT (June 6th 2015) had mileage at 6,482 miles, and previous mileage on the MOTs are small increments.
