Heater hoses disconnected?

I noticed this morning on my newly acquired gen 1 that the heater hose is disconnected on one of the connection points on the carbs? It looks like it has been rerouted and one of the connections is no longer being used? Can this work? The one way valve goes into carb no 4 instead of carb no 2. Carb no 2 has nothing attached...

There is a mod that gets rid of the heated carbs,  think it's on pats site, could be it's been done.?

I stripped out the heater circuit connected to my carbs as I don't ride the bike if the thermometer reads less than 10c and less needless clutter is better IMHO, maybe the previous owner thought the same. However if you're going to be using the bike in all weathers you might want to connect it back up, I've probably still got the OEM tubing somewhere if you want it.

Thanks for the info. it turns out he has used the original hose with the one way valve plugged into the carb and turned the one way valve round so that no coolant enters the carbs. It would be a bit neater to fit rubber caps over the two outlets on the carbs and the one on the radiator, but its good to know its not fooked   Cheers :thumbup

This routes the coolant flow straight back into the rad.  If the one-way valve fails, you won't risk losing coolant through an open carb outlet.

You can cap the carb coolant stubs or leave 'em open, makes no difference.

It turns out that is the way it is connected. I don't know why i thought it went into carb no 4?? There is a hose thats connected to no 4, but i haven't checked to see where it goes yet...

Sounds like the AIS vacuum hose, Nick.

I disconnected my carb heaters because one of the hoses split causing a water leak, I have had no issues with riding in cold weather below 10℃
