Help with rear brake caliper bracket bolt hole stripped thread?

Hello,

assembling my rear axle today and Rear brake caliper bracket bolt aluminium hole thread has stripped.

Major PITA. I can  buy the bracket but its £100 and also I really do not want to dissasemble the axle again honestly.

Any ideas what is the best to use HELICOIL type or Wurth time-sert one?

I know the wurth is better but do not like the price of it.

Honestly I am very close to glue the thing  :groan

Can I just use the blue loctite?? The other bolt is fine and the one which has stripped hole is not completely loose yet.

Sooooo annoying, i feel your pain, i had the same with a caliper bolt, used copper grease and it threw the torque settings out the window.
Take the bolt out, and store it for safe keeping, and bin the bike, and replace it with an FZS1000.  :thumbup

Reckon either is as good as each other. But being traditional, something is telling me to just re-tap it, don't know why.
Don't forget that torque settings are for dry threads like Darrsi said - no lube.

I'd get one off eBay. Usually a load of them on there for between £10 to £20

you'd probably get a replacement bracket for the price of the helicoil kit

Should have reading the forum more.  Exactly that has happened I've put anti-Seize grease too.

i have had bad times with Copper grease....and have snapped a bolt or two as a result.....so i now i have no copper grease on any bolts - was an intresting link limax posted about how it affects torques....will try find it

It's fine to use engine oil as lube and torque settings will remain unaffected.

I am a moron. Apparently not the hole but the steel bolt thread was stripped??

I was so pissed off yesterday that even have not looked what it is, just was expecting to be the hole.

It seems this hanger bracket is some kind of hardened alloy. Hence the steel bolt has gone.

Today I bought the bolt for a £1 from my local bolt guys thank you Kevin  : http://precisefastenings.co.uk/

Job done. I would have bought the Yamaha bolt, but Yamaha dealers do not keep any stock on anything. Seriously 4 days to wait for bolt?

Anyway I am happy bunny again  :lol

P.S. If anybody wants helicoil for pound or two let me know I have one surplus to requirements:
