I know this is the thou. forum but I wonder if anyone has suffered from this??
This started about 10 days ago.I was splitting lanes on the M25 and needed to do a 2 lane split so found a gap and shut the throttle whereupon the forks dived and it felt like the engine had died. I got into lane, made some space then shut the throttle, pulled in the clutch and it stalled. I let the clutch out and it re-started. It had a bit of an on off feel to the throttle response. So I got home and tilted the tank, checked obvious pipes off, no joy. I opened the airbox and it does need a new air filter (I've got one on order). I dumped a load of injector cleaner in the tank.Put the bike in during the week to a local independent for the throttle bodies to be balanced as it was getting a bit flat at low revs, plugs and an MOT. It's come back with less of a flat spot and keeps going better at the top end with better fuel economy!I went to deepest Kent yesterday and coming back I got the same effect. Sat in the contraflow on the M3, I got to the point where I could just make the bike skip a beat at a certain throttle opening, just like an occasional misfire. Pulled the clutch in as I approached my home parking spot and the engine cut out again.
I guess this could be caused by heat build up as I was travelling at "ahem" mph round the M25 before trundling through the roadworks @ 50mph for 16 miles.I am thinking from what I generally know about cars that it could be a faulty throttle pot but I don't know enough about the system to say for sure.Anyone suffered from this or got any how tos on things to check??
Just think how stupid the "average" person is. Isn't it a worry that statistically approximately 50% of the population are thicker!
The engine cuts when I pull in the clutch with the bike in gear and at ~50 mph. But seems to do it only when the bike is hot (I'm thinking something breaking down with heat soak?).
The throttle also seems a bit on/off rather than progressive.

It does sound electrical and to do with the Starter cut out relay system.
Check all the wiring around the starter cut out relay and connectors to the side stand switch and connectors to the multipin Starter Cut out relay box
If all ok then bypass the clutch switch and try it again. Be careful with this as you as you will be able to start whilst it is in gear when testing with the switch bypassed.

Hmm, this would conside with the fact I have not heard good things about the FZ6 and reliability. My local bike shop had one in and it had no end of issues, you could give Yamaha UK a call and see what they say..
I do not believe these bikes are any more problematic than any other Yamahas, however there was a recall on some earlier FZ6 models due to stalling which Yamaha were replacing the TPs free of charge and it may be a good idea to check if it was recalled.
There were some issues with a multi earth connector corroding which caused strange problems, I must go back over my documents to see if I still have the information on it and if I find it I will post it on here
