Hi ihave just started doing some mods to mybike so far scorpian end can fce and k and n air filter got a power commander on oder
When i instaled the slip on i told the insurance and they asked if it was a performance mod i said no untill i had the power commander
What should itell the insurance about the mods i have done and is it going to increase my premium by a lot
I would say it depends on the insurer. Some seem to penalise more than others.
Personally I have a Gen 1 thou and I told my insurance company it has an after market end can and a K&N and they said it did not affect premium at all.
If they give you a hard time shop around.
I use these guys

were recommended by a friend and have been top notch so far.
Lord,
Grant me the WD-40 to move those things that are stuck, the Duck tape to fasten those things that are loose, And the wisdom to know the difference.
Amen
+1 to what Fuz said, as long as the value aint silly high then they aint bothered.
but best to declare because -
1. if you get knocked off, you want to recouple the cost of replacements.
2. if its a mod that adds power or is noiser than stock they could play silly buggers if a claim went against you.
My bike is getting to the stage of being pretty highly modified in the grand scheme of things, cosmetically & to a certain degree technically & im starting to think i should cover myself properly incase of a loss but im not looking for any more money than a stock bike payout.
I wonder then if that is explainable to an insurer.
I fear that im in a world of pain & if someone cant just give me an honest quote for an honest declaration then it'll be back to my old ways & going TPF&T just to be covered on ANPR & in paperwork only.
Easiest way to go fast........don't buy a blue bike
Was told by Carole Nash that they werent concerned about any mods that didnt increase performance over standard.
However it is always a wise move to check as most,if not all, insurers stipulate that you MUST notify them of any alterations/changes made since your original declaration. Best cover yourself since they can be a "slippery bunch"! :eek
