Clutch dragging when cold
#1
OK, starting my "second life" on FOC-U with a cry for help!

Bike is a 2003 FZS1000

I recently put new clutch plates in and also a new clutch cable (also did an oil change at the same time).  When the bike is warmed-up, the clutch is fine, but when its cold, the cable has tightened-up taking the play out of the run and the clutch draggs really badly and won't fully disengage.  Once it warms up after a couple of miles, the cable slackens-off to give the correct play and the clutch works fine again

Any suggestions or assistance will be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Jon

Hi and welcome back. Smile

Genuine Yamaha clutch cable or pattern part?  The latter have a reputation for causing clutch adjustment issues.

Also

check the following -

- the clutch basket for wear on the finger where the friction plates rest against it.Will cause clutch drag, (because the clutch isn;t fully disengaging) which can then make it hard to find neutral.

Also check if the end-plug is missing from the clutch main-shaft -
