Who knows anything about binoculars or spotting scopes, I have got a vintage pair of binos 16x50 but the quality is crap and they weigh a ton.
I were glasses and when searching for a subject to then look at through the binos I have to have my glasses on then take them off to use the binos, but then I cant find the subject due to the x16 power,
so are zoom binos any good,
What make
And what about a spotting scope as they have good power and are zoom.
And my main use for them would be to see things that are far away !! So I mean everything like "ohh is that a blue tit"---- no its a cheese and oinion chrisp packet, or Is that a ryan air plane, or looking at the occasional astronomical object -- and so on.
Oh and I don't want to spend much dosh either as they wont get used much.
Any ideas

The higher the magnification is then the more the object will 'wobble' when you are hand holding them. The larger the objective lens (the end you don't look through) is, the more light they will let in so the brighter the object will be.
Spotting scopes are usually used in a fixed position on a tripod for 'prolonged' viewing of an object. Also, the higher the magnification is, the narrower the field of vision is.
Zoom binoculars will never give an image that can match the quality of a fixed lens. (The same goes for camera lenses.)
As far as glasses go, it is a pain. Most modern binoculars have fold down eye cups designed to make thing easier for eyeglass wearers.
Astronomically speaking, the late Patrick Moore recommended a good pair of binoculars for viewing through as opposed to a small scope. (For the armatures among us anyway!)
Over the years I have found that the best all round binoculars are a pair of 10 X 42's.
Hope this helps?
People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do.
Blinding info fella, hope you can also help me out. Ive been struggling for years to find the right pair.
I need a small pair of binocs, with good night vision, very wide angle, good STABLE crystal clear zoom function, foldable to fit in a pocket so they won't fall out when climbing trees.............oh and a record view to SD card function would be handy. If you can steer me to a pair with additional sound detection it would be appreciated :thumbup
Those are my principles...if you don't like them I have others.

Thanks for the help so far
I understand about all the exit pupil info and stuff and narrow angle of view, looks like the spotting scope idea is not as versatile as binos
I do also understand the quality of a zoom would not be as good as a fixed but I am using at the moment a vintage Pathescope 16x50 so I wonder if a modern zoom would still be better,
Is there a good make other than Bushnell lica and all of those I should look at.
They would need to be x16.
What about these

link help you ( if it works as I'm no good on puter )
I work as a gamekeeper so this sort of stuff is pretty important to me. I personally wouldn't go past Swarovski and Zeiss as you won't get better no where. I had bushnell binos that only lasted just over a year, they couldn't handle real life as did one of their scopes on a rifle a few years ago ( it came with the rifle so I gave it a go ).
Better to stand and look a fool than speak and prove it !
If it aint broke, I'll fix it till it is !!
Frostie where I live people who sit in trees with binoculars end up in jail or hospital haha.
a bird in the hand poops on the wrist
That's a very useful link looney tune - thank you. More reading to be done me thinks but they do give a Celestron pair a good review,
