Fuel prices again
#1
I found this on a FB forum I am on. So if oil is bought in $$ how come we are paying about this per litre in the UK. I got petrol for the bike at the weekend in Spain at €1.14 a LITRE and diesel at € 0.999 a LITRE .

Incredible as it may seem, gas prices still dropping in Michigan! Just how low they will go remains to be seen...now $1.72 per gallon! (3.85 liters to the gallon). Prices have not bee so low since 2009!

Not only rip off Britain Rip off Europe as well

Fuel in the UK is around 75 - 80% tax, how else do you think they keep our roads in such pristine condition  :eek

Have seen the price coming down almost daily over the last 3 weeks @ my local Shell filling station. Yesterday was 104.9 ppl & I believe some garages are charging less than £1 per litre. When I were a young lad(c1956) I remember my Dad buying petrol for 2/9 per Gallon(thats less than 15p in decimal money!).
In 1966 I was buying a Gallon (4.55L per Imperial Gallon) of self-mix 2-stroke for 6/6 ( 32.5p). Lews figure relates to the US Gallon which is smaller than the UK one.
I wonder what the current annual fuel tax revenue is worth to the exchequer?-its probably one of the few sources of income left to our political masters in our new wonderful third world state.
Make the most of it fellow foccers-you can be sure that as demand increases the price will rise again as the days get warmer but I guess Cameron & Co will try to keep prices down until after the election for the " Tory feel-good factor".  The USA can only hold prices down for so long in the light of increasing pressure from China, India,& other emerging/developing economies.

US Gallon = 3.85 litres v Imperial Gallon 4.55 litres. A gallon in the US is $1.72 ,the exchange rate £ v $ is, £1.00 =1.51$ so the yanks are paying about 29 pence a Litre, given we pay HMG about 80% tax per litre we should then really only be paying 52 pnce a litre now why are we not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Venezuela eh!! a single mans paradise, I think the women out number the men about 4 to 1. That place brings back memories when I first went away to sea a happy 20 year old no ties no commitments.
A regular run for me for a few years, had a steady girl friend from the agents office. Talk about hot to trot, I nearly brought her home with me, drop dead gorgeous, happy days.

Isnt it Venezuela that has brilliantly empty well surfaced roads? Seem to remember reading they didnt know what to spend their oil revenue on first!
Memo to self: I must notify my council of some wonderful new potholes I discovered this week-fortunately not on bike!

Demand should fall as the days get warmer not rise.

Yup it won't do Cameron and co any harm in the short term.

The Chinese economy is faltering, growth is slowing.  My bet is it will crash at some point.  Just as we did they are printing cash.

It's not the USA that's holding down prices, it's the USA and Saudi.  Saudi could slash it's production, restore the price to 120 - 14- dollars a barrel, protect it's asset and still bring home the same profit.

The price of oil is carefully controlled.

The current low price is to bring the Russian bear to it's knees.  Saudi is more than happy to help the USA achieve this.
