Tyres
#1
What's the general consensus on tyres? I'm not looking for which is better/best type argument rather the popular choices.
Bear in mind I'm out all year round. At moment I've  got Michelin Pilot Power at front and Battlax BT 020 at rear. These were not my choice but came with bike an still loads a thread on them.
I don't have anything witty or funny to say. For an update check back in 2025

It's about the only consensus you'll get, on a tyre thread :-)

The subject pops up quite often on here and everyone seems to have their own preferences.

Depends on your budget really, plus what you use the bike for as well, as in, is it used more for commuting, long distance, etc?

If you want a suggestion to start with i'd probably say Bridgestone BT023's seem to get the thumbs up on here as a good all rounder with longevity as well.  :thumbup

Mileage is more important to me than anything else on my commuter FZS, as my daily journey doesn't involve anything more than 5 degrees from vertical. Are there better wearing tyres than 023s to be had?

I would say that's where the 023's do well. I get 10k to 12k from a rear.

The other popular choice is the Michelin pr2/pr3 which I think would be a good choice too.

Agreed that there will be little consensus on such an emotive topic...
But, for what it's worth
+1 for 023's .... 12k on mine and still going. Just had MoT in aug ,tyres OK. Bike used as a daily hack commute

My mileage consist mainly on commuting 22 miles round trip daily but when time allows I go out for pleasure usually racking up 50-300 miles on the day. How do the BT023 perform in the wet?

They're an all rounder, i wouldn't have suggested them otherwise.
Good performance in wet weather is the most important thing to me, as i ride all year round.

Have a look on Oponeo website for prices if you wanna save money too, even after paying for fitting.

Anything with the number '3' in it is popular, next year it'll be the number '4'
