T30 vs BT023

Hi there just thought id share this little piece of information with you.  My previous set of tyres were Bridgestone T30's. Great grip....mileage 10000 front...10500 rear. Thought it strange that front wore out first so went back to my tried and trusted 023's. Grip not quite as good as the t30s but still very good. Mileage front on 12000 and still going strong. ....rear...16000. Thats some mileage difference.  I know what tyres ill be staying on. Cheers all

How the feck do you get that mileage from tires? If I get 5-6k from a rear I class that as good  :'(

But how do you wear out the front first, i don't get that.

Funny you should mention this as I've just changed my front tyre from a 023 to a T30 and the T30 seems a lot softer compound and feels very sticky to the touch when warm.  This is my front tyre after a 60 mile scrubbing ride but interestingly didn't bobble up all the way round.

How the Hell do you do that? My 600 gets 5500-6000 out of a rear, and maybe  8-10k from a front.

I'll be sticking another 023 on the front when it's done and replacing the shagged 023 on the back with another one

I'm so glad this post started, i have a T30 on the rear which i'm more than happy with, but am not far away from getting a new front so was gonna match the pair.
I won't bother now, think i'll go with the 023 instead, as my bike's mainly a commuter as well.  [size=78%]  [/size]

I had the 021 on the rear for years before i was kind of cornered into buying a T30 due to a puncture out on the road, and was obviously quite happy with it, but when the T30 was put on it was a noticeably softer compound which obviously adds to better grip.
It feels almost spongy if you push your finger on to the tyre.
I was a bit gutted for a moment as i got a nail in it the very next day after it was fitted, but fortunately it went in at an angle in the thick tread part so was basically a flesh wound.
The grip though was quite impressive in comparison, it sticks like glue to the road in any conditions.


I've always mixed my tyres though so the 023 sounds like a great option for the front next time after reading this post.

Sorry Arbie mate but I dont wish to upset you but you talk about,  you can "feel" a grip difference. But pushing a tyre so far that you can "feel" a grip difference dosent tally with getting intergalatic milage out of them. IMO

Me to, just ordered another set.  Never had any issues with them, but I do ride like an old man

Lol most of my miles are commuting but the ride home is much much more "spirited"  even playing tag with an R6 often! BT021 have never let me down or given reason for concern

Hi there. In my original post the point I was trying to make was how much longer the 023 lasts over the T30 given its their new sports touring tyre. As for grip I found the T30 was a bit more confidence inspiring when cracking on but thats just my humble opinion....others will have theirs. Im a despatch rider and if I didn't do such high mileage id probably run t30s but the extra mileage the 023's give and enough grip to grind the pegs make them a winner imho. Cheers.

Sorry Arbie,  wasn't trying to distract from your Op. I only meant I'm behind the times  on BT021's and I very much expect that next change I will prob end up with 23's.......it was  good to see your comparison against other current brands.

Bt21 is what I had on the rear of the T'cat when I ran out of grip at Rockingham and in the separate 'fire incident', never had them since!

I found the same with the T30 vs BT23 with regards grip and mileage and mentioned it a while ago but posts are easily lost in the catacombs!

Arbie- The Michelin pilot road 3's still out do the Bridgestones in all aspects and work out better at £'s per mile for dispatching, I've just convinced our new boss to let me have a pr3 on the rear of the company bike to try and prove it to him!

Thanks Punkstig. To be honest I have been tempted to try the pr3's but ive been put off by Michelins in the past. The company bike I used to run were shod with the original pilot roads.....I was forever getting punctures on them....must have had somewhere between 12-15 in a year....I even had 3 in a week !!!! They then started using contis and although I picked up a few punctures it was no where near as many. When I started running my own bikes on 023's I didn't have a single puncture for about 100000 miles !!!! Now it could have been just bad luck but you can see why im slightly wary of Michelins. That said I think I will give the pr3's a go next if they are that good. Thanks.

I just received my new front BT023 from Oponeo, and couldn't help noticing how deep the tread is on the tyre.
I wonder if this is why people tend to get so much mileage out of them?
I don't recall any of my previous tyres having such a good tread.
