Don't like the MT 09 no matter what you dress it up as.

Id have an MT09 purely on how it performs.

I wouldnt have one of those FJ09's though if that is really what they'll look like.......how shit does that front fairing look......totally uninspiring Sad .....i mean come on it will be more money so they could at least develop something that doesnt look like a slap on afterthought for the front end.

If it does look like the pictures on motorcycle.com, what is going on with the screen? I'd rather a wider one to match the lines of the fairing.
Looking at various MT09's parked up, a fair few have corrosion to various nuts and bolts already. Quality gone downhill?

Just crapper suppliers, the quality of screws and bolts etc are getting worse we notice it at work, i.e. magnetic stainless steel bolts etc.

The price has been set, £8149 for the new MT09 Tracer (daft name).

I'm reserving judgement on its looks until I see it in the flesh. I like the bigger 18l tank, adjustable seat, centre stand as standard. On the test ride I had I didn't find the mapping on the MT09 that bad, but maybe the improved mapping will satisfy all the people who gave the bike a kicking.

Yamaha have announced pricing for the MT-09 Tracer – the first faired MT –which offers a more practical do-it-all variant, with traction control, ABS and rider modes, along with luggage-carrying potential. Available as a single model with ABS as standard, the new Tracer is available to order now, priced at £8149 on the road.

Yamaha have clearly worked hard on practicality, with a larger front fairing, adjustable windscreen, upright riding position, and a bigger 18-litre fuel tank (up from the MT-09’s 14 litres) meaning the Tracer should be good for nearly 200 miles between fill-ups.

The seating position is adjustable, while a centrestand and ABS are standard fitment.

At the heart of the bike is the CP3 crossplane three-cylinder motor first seen in the MT-09 roadster, which was launched a little over a year ago.

The 847cc motor produces 113bhp, and will almost certainly come with the revised throttle mapping Yamaha has made available for all existing

MT-09 models, as a retro-fit upgrade, to counter criticism of a snatchy throttle response on the early models.

The Tracer also gets switchable traction control and D-Mode, which offers three power settings tailored to suit this bike, giving options for everything from sporty riding through to touring and general daily use.

Looking beyond the tank, centrestand and styling changes, the Tracer has the same engine, running gear, suspension and chassis as the MT-09.

New parts include new twin LED headlights that do away with traditional bulbs altogether for both low and high beams and can be adjusted without needing any tools at all. The dashboard is a full dot-matrix design and is split into two screens.

The Tracer is expected to arrive in dealers in March 2015.

I still think that the front fairing looks a bit bland.

Plus it's still 8k.....so i suppose it is more of a welcome drop from the 10k FZ1 but 8k is still allot of dosh.........fair to say that i wont be affording anything like it for another 10 years......maybe second hand in 5 years.......so that makes it an old boys bike in a n old boys market which i suppose theres plenty of a market but it sure is crowded with other bikes.

MT still takes the win in my book.

I was looking at both the MT09 and the Street Triple at Blade's in Swindon today. I do prefer the look of the Triumph, but if the MT09 had better suspension as standard, I reckon I could be swayed. It's certainly a bike I would like to try, and maybe when there are a few 2nd hand ones around, it would be worth buying and upgrading. I was really rooting for Yamaha when the first launch was imminent, and still would like to see it mature and do well. At least they've looked at the fuelling issue, which IMO is a big step in the right direction. But it would take a complete styling change for me to lust after one. Superficial maybe, but there you go.

Well the one in the picture in the original post is the new "Tracer" but the MT-09 was also set up in all kinds of suits.

Here was a line up of various ones

why do all these types of bike have the minimal wheel mudguards, as we have inclement weather here in UK the bike gets covered in crap and this starts corrosion on every part of the bike, especially all the bits you cannot reach.
Maybe they look good in the dry but your definitely riding a shit covered machine in any other conditions, not good.  :pc

One of the main things I don't like about a lot of modern bikes is the styling, or lack of. So many of them have no continuity from fairing through tank and into the tail unit. Rather, they often seem to look like the bike has been built and then bits just tacked on in whatever way they fit. And there seem to be all these little panels that look like a half-hearted attempt to tie it all in together afterwards. Unfortunately, the MTs fall into this category for me. Maybe it's silly, but looks play quite a big part in my choice of machine. If the bike looks right, then I'll have enough of an interest to start delving deeper into whether I think it's something I'll enjoy riding. There have been one or two that have broken this rule for me, mostly KTMs. But two things make these stand out for me. Screaming orange against a black background is immediately attention-grabbing. And the reputation they have built in a relatively short space of time for building loony tunes machines that are guaranteed either to put a manic grin on your face or ensure regular visits to A & E! But really, I think they're ugly as sin. So if it must be an ugly bike, it had better have something else seriously outstanding about it to get my interest going.
