Newbie girlie foccer
#1
Hi all,

New here to the forum. My name is Roxy, I ride a 1999 600 in cherry red and black, she is lovely. When i aren't on my bike i drive buses for a living. I have been riding for 5 years with no break in between (i should think not) never owned a car, never want to. I ride in all weathers all year round, they don't call me power ranger roxy, come out in my new season gear for, well summer, then go into hiding. Nope, i brave the winters with the rest of them, wish i had more insulation sometimes but when spring finally arrives winter seems so far behind us.  Joined the site in case i ever need any advice, tips, info etc and of course to check out everyone else's ride...
I have uploaded one pic so far to the media area of the site. I hope i can be initiated now...

Be safe,

Roxy

micron sounds good you're right! i love the micron i just don't think the white haired warriors who live near me do at 6am but hey ho...

anyway apparently the guy i bought it off had it 'jetted' or tuned (is this right?) to take a more race can? he kept that and sold it with the micron and didn't recommend putting the standard can back on as it would run rich. all i wanted to know was what that meant in terms of drinking juice as she is used mainly for work. she seems ok on juice.

that leads me to my first question is (is this even the right spot on here to ask...?) does anyone know how many miles these babies will do to a full tank. i don't work in miles per gallon or litres (foreign to me) i just fill her up and run her til there is no more juice, however this is my first bike where i haven't run her dry as the fuel gauge seems a little unreliable. is this just me or is it across the board?

do elaborate on the throttle cable comment...haven't quite mastered mind reading  Big Grin  and the top box is bolted in, for now haha but thanks for the heads up fizzy pie, much appreciated, although i would laugh hard if mine overtook me, maybe not so hard if my eggs in it... then again yer i would ....
and i am pinned to the members map in sunny east yorkshire

All year biker with no hot grips too, put the manly foccers on here to shame  8)

Only you, Fizzy, no bike o' mine has heated grips!  :lol

Are those fog lights fitted to your forks? What's the mods list? Loving the colour scheme, BTW!

A Fazer should do about 270 miles from brimmed to dry.  Smile

Your bike will have the 18 litre fuel tank, I think, so should get around 200ish miles to a tank... I think. I've got the slightly larger tank, 22 litres, on mine and can do almost 250 miles if I'm kind to it. There are a couple of threads so try a search and see what you can find.

Yeah, he'll have had larger fuel jets put in the carbs so it throws more fuel into the engine. It'll use slightly more fuel than one with standard jets but shouldn't make too much odds.

The thing at the bottom of my post called fuelly is quite useful, you just put in the details of the fill ups/price of fuel etc it's all on your receipt from the fuel station, and remember your miles to put into it and it does all the calculations for you.

The fazer generally runs a bit rich so most people don't have them rejetted but as I say shouldn't hurt too much if it's set up right. Might be worth putting a K&N air filter in if it hasn't got one already.

270miles 1 tank :eek  think I best stop riding with Dazza

I think the reference to throttle cables is their position under the bar and not in front. Probably  moved to gain length is those aren't standard bars.  Not sure how would cause concern tho. that is if I'm right.

the fog lights are bolted underneath the front fairing and they were great when they worked, except the guy who owned the bike previously put them on and his wiring skills were clearly not as great as he my have thought, sure they worked for a bit but they got water in so i drilled hole int bottoms to allow the water to drain but they still don't work. i don't know how to take them off hence them still being there.

thank you so much all for the information on fuel. great to know, thank you.

i guess the only mods (are these even mods?):
renthals
fog lights that don't work - you can have them if you take them off haha
rear hugger
braided hoses front and rear
micron
and i bought adjustable levers (bought thundercat ones and then just bought a thundercat clutch perch...the reason for this being i couldn't find any fazer adjustables)
not many mods if they even are mods...
