Had a set of textile trousers returned today from a fairly well known bike magazine journalist. Obviously he'd come off of a bike in them, scraped quite badly in a couple of places. Now I don't actually know if he was hurt or not, but the damage to the trousers suggests he will have suffered no gravel rash. Then he has the cheek to say in a brief penned note, "could you tell me why they failed?". Nothing about any injuries received, nothing about in what way he thinks they've "failed". No stitching failures, nothing else but the scrapes found to be wrong.
I would suggest that if anything failed, it was him failing to stay on the bike!
Quite agree.
He failed to stay on the bike.
Who was it so we can all take the piss. :evil

Tell him they failed because the wearer fell off. Then ask about the injuries if any. If none you can state to the journo they never failed. Plesse tell all?
Sent from my villa in the South of France.
top TBH in this situation If it was my company he was talking about i would be chasing him for more feed back
He has the cheek to say to you they failed without any explanation ! god only know what he is saying to others ! >:
It's worrying that his note was so brief. Personally, I wonder if he could even write a decent shopping list, never mind an informative article in a bike magazine. A picture is worth a thousand words, but a few more words would have painted a better picture.

Your posts confuse me...
You buy protection in case you fall off the bike. If you thought it would fail you may as well wear a t-shirt and shorts.
It's a fair question if it was phrased properly. Which it wasn't.
Eg. These triple stitch seams failed, please can you tell me why. The answer "you fell off" would not suffice.
Just playing devils advocate. If you fall off you would expect at least scuffing and depending on speed rips etc but.supplying no context at all just labels the journo as a wolly.
Opinions are like A**holes, Everyone has one. Some people seem to have more than one though which is a bit odd.

Yeah, but after close examination, there was no sign of "failure". In fact, it appears they did their job. Or am I missing something here?
Did he expect to be able to come off, and there'd be no damage at all?!
A million years ago a friend of a friend tried to return a leather jacket to a shop saying that it had worn through when he came off.
The owner 'robustly' reminded him that that would have been his skin.

That sounds to me like they succeeded, rather than failed!
