I hate sheep!
#1
Went on an awesome ride over kirkby lonsdale, and on to Hawes over the Yorkshire moors.
Just passed the brew van and all the hill walkers littering the road, then started to open her up. Got to about 45 when a sheep darted into the road 15 meters in front of me. It went left, then right, and I thought I was going to hit it square on! Last second it went right, and I hit the rear end of this fully grown sheep with my right foot.  I stayed on the bike luckily, but looked down to see my right foot bent abnormally downwards, then slowly straighten out. I pulled over to assess the damage.
One smashed peg hanger, bent gear lever, dented link pipe, and my boot split open along the outside seam! My foot is a bit bruised, bit not broken, and we managed to bodge the bike with cable ties to get me home.
I'm one lucky lad, it could have been a lot worse!

Gutted for you mate, I know exactly how unpredictable those little buggers can be! Living in Shetland there are more than just a few of them about! Glad you didn't hit it square on and that you managed to stay on the bike. Count your blessings and keep your eyes peeled for them in future  Wink

It wouldn't be fun if it was easy, I just wish it wasn't this much fun.

I use that road on a regular basis and have learnt over the years to take it easy as the sheep seem to be suicidal at times, especially lambs when they realise mum is on the other side of the road. I was up there about 3 weeks ago and came up behind two cars stopped in the road waiting for two sheep to move that were just stood in the middle of the road admiring the view!

How is the sheep?
Not quite sure what to do with my early mid-life crisis. Ideas on a post card to P.O.BOX 150...

The sheep's fine, it just limped off making silly noises!
I wouldn't mind, bit I used that road every weekend for about 3 years to come home from Catterick (albeit in the car), and not once did a sheep ever run out in front of me. I go on the bike, and flossy jumps out from nowhere right in front of me. :Smile

Glad you're okay.

I remember driving my drunk parents and friends back home up norf somewhere (middleham?) And the car was heavy at its ar&e end.  All of the sudden all these kamikaze bunnies were flying under the car and you just heard thunks every 3 seconds as the exhaust smacked them on the head.

I often wonder what happend to them and if they found peace :-P

Snapping their front legs and putting their rear legs in your wellies to stop them running away works well too Wink

It was a Yorkshire sheep, so it was pretty quick on its feet. It's used to being chased by humans! :eek
