Quick question, front caliper seals.
#1
Need to rebuild my front calipers.

Is there any difference between the cheap kits and the more expensive kits?
Any body had any issues with buying the cheaper seals?

The wemoto set is £37

Ebay has sets for as little as £10.50 a side

Dont see the point paying double the money for something that will do the job just as good. However, if im going to end up with leaks i'd rather do it once properly.

Thanks

Yes, some have had problems with cheap seals and had to do the job again. Some have also been o.k. but do you want to take the risk???
Before fitting new seals make sure the grooves are clear of crap or you will have problems even with good seals.

They are seals, ill fitting seals leak, leaking brakes mean no stopping.......d'ya see where i'm going with this!

It's one of the areas not to take short cuts with or try and save money on for your own safety, plus it's less time and effort doing things right straight off.

Although many pattern seals are indeed crap, I've used Japanese Nikone OEM standard seals to good effect for my front caliper rebuilds.

Such as item number 200831498651

About £11 per caliper versus £90 for Yam IIRC
