End can shortening
#1
Has anyone had an Micron exhaust of their FZS 600 and shortened it down before?
Being a Micron, mine has 3 bolts holding it together at the face of the end of the can. So i assume i would have to cut it in the middle and maybe reweld it, instead of the usual cut just a bit off the end with other cans which use rivets.

Also i was going to cover it in 3M Carbon vinyl wrap. I had a small piece and had it stuck to the underside of the can for a few weeks and it never melted or bubbled. But would it last if the whole thing was done and over a longer peroid of time over a maybe warm summer? :lol

I cut around 20mm from an old Micron can fitted to my FZ750 to remove some damage. The inner baffle also needed cutting down. There were 3 welds holding the baffle to the end cap so I ground them off first, cut baffle to length & welded it back on but it was such a tight fit I might have got away with not welding it.

Mines 3rd hand, i think it has been cut down. Its very short compared to a mates can. Not sure how it was done, but it no longer has a baffle!!! Its carbon so i can only think the end was unscrewed, then cut,and then bolted back on somehow.

Out of interest where on your cans does it have a kite mark or not for road use stamped on it?
Mine has neither and i assume it got removed when it was shortened.

The Moto GP can i just took off had it on a band around the end of it, not where the hole is, the larger part.
The Quill race can i have on now has no markings at all. I've added a baffle to it though to keep plod happy, although i have cut the baffle down by 75%.  Smile
