Hi,can any one share their knowledge.Trying to get mark 1 6oo fazer back on the road after 6 years, removed carbs cleaned all the gunk out, starting but as if not on all cylinders,so new plugs and caps running bit better but only on 1/8 choke and still not running smooth.
6 years is a long time. My money is still on the carbs. Did you remove all the jets & clean every little pin hole in them? They are very intricate things. You should really have them cleaned professionally but a can of carb cleaner & some speaker wire is a start.
I think your right about carbs, took them out AGAIN this afternoon and adjusted the pilot screws to original positions no.1 carb- 2 1/4 turns back no.2 -3 back no.3 -3 1/4 no.4 -3 back.Put it back together and hit the button, started first time without any choke, though when revved revs fall back slower than normal and it still sounds lumpy like a twin on tickover.Looks like another trawl through the manual tonight see if I can stumble on anything. Thanks for the reply and will post an update on any progress!
Before you remove & strip them again I would say they need balancing from your description. Can be done by eye with them off but best done properly with a vacuum gauge.
I have borrowed a set of gauges and will give that a try.
