Hi all
I know this engine is known for its vibrations at certain points in the rev range, but is it normal for the fairing to vibrate as well? at about 3500 rpm I get a vibration in the fairing which is really annoying. Any body else experienced this?
Dammit, that's meant to say Vibes
I get some between 5.5 and 6K
Can get quite distracting some time :lol
:eek a vibrating fairing at 3500rpm is the first sign of needing an engine rebuild
Dont pull my leg! There's nothing wrong with the engine.
you have me paranoid now, im going to check the rpm that it occurs at.
Bloody battery is flat! ARgh will have to sort that out now.
If you bike is vibrating one word of advise !
Dont let the Mrs borrow it you'll never get it back ! :lol
HA! Thats why she keeps wanting to go pillion! :lol
I've never had a 600 but I think most of them suffer in some way or another , I think this can normally be sorted by balancing the carbs , and Im sure I read once re-torque the engine mount bolts helps , but have you check your wheel balancing as well ?
I will have a quick check over all the bolts, its new to be so no idea what its previous maintenance was like (apart from a recent oil and a filter change).
wheel balancing appears to be ok, doesn't seem speed related but RPM related, Mostly when im riding around town and roll on the throttle from around 3k +
I think thats a good idea, I was thinking of going around it with some foam. Just got to get the battery charged :p
This also happened to me, could not work out what it was for the life of me and drove me mental. I actually ended up taking the whole front end off except the sub frame and clocks and rode it around the block adding a section at a time to eliminate possibilities. It was all fine until I got to the black infill fairings, one of the plastic weird screw things that holds them to the frame was missing two of its clips and wasn't holding it down properly on the right side meaning it was slapping against the metal fixing. I've bodged it for now with an ugly looking allen fixing and rubber washer but the replacement I bought off ebay this week wasn't the right size unfortunately so I am sending it back with the broken one I have removed in it to see if the guy has any of those, hope that helps
Aha I will have a look at the fixings. When you say the black infil do you mean the piece you can see that is on the inside of the fairing as you sit on the bike?
Also check that the clock's electrical connectors haven't moved and are starting to touch the fairing somewhere.
Your symptons are exactly like mine and that was the problem took ages to find it though.
His dudeness, very funny :lol
Red Heads - Slowly taking over the world!!!
My 600 has a very slight tingle around 6000 revs ,
After a recent accident which broke some of the clock mounts ,It did not get any worse, Check the carb balance!
Have had the carb balance checked recently and it seems ok. I will go down the fairing route first as im sure there is a loose bolt. Its not a bad vibration and there isnt rough running at low rpm at stuttering like my fj which has seriously out of balance carbs.
