anyone fitted a quickshifter?
#1
I have a quickshifter and it has rose joints on the end of it like in the picture below

I'm just wondering if this type of joint can be used with the ball on the end of the standard fazer shift mechanism or will I have to modify it?

So I took a closer look at this and I noticed that the little pivoting arms on the fazer and the rose joints on the quickshifter were both M6 so I thought shweeeett I can bin the quickshifter rose joints and use the standard fazer pivoting connectors by just making some studs to connect the quickshifter in. So I made the studs to connect everything up but noooooo! The rear pivoting connector on the fazer is left hand thread and the quickshifter is right hand thread. So I'll have to either get a very short right hand/left hand stud or get a new fazer right hand pivoting connector. But at least I know it will fit and I know what I need to get so thanks for all of your help guys :lol

they let you change gear without closing the throttle or pulling the clutch in. so you can keep the throttle open and just kick up through the gears. it works by sensing when you kick to change gear and cuts the power to the coils for a split second so the engine unloads and can change gear.

oh you mean the thing in the picture above? thats just a connection that can pivot. if you look at your gear changer there's two of them on it.

Nap you can only use a Q- shifter for up shifts.

changing down you use the clutch. but you can get ones that blip the throttle as you change down so you don't have to use the clutch. there is a video of the general idea

I think that you can get rose joints in both RH and LH thread if that helps. I got one of each for my other bike as the Triumph linkage was shot.

No no no If you change down without using the clutch you will either do 2 things feck the gearbox up, or lock the back wheel and do this at speed and you go into a skid and probably bin it !! if you want to avoid locking the wheel up you will need to fit a slipper clutch.

calm down and look at what i said. i didn't say change down without clutching it. i said you can get quickshifters that allow you to change down without clutching it. here's one http://www.flatshifter.com/flat-shifter-pro/
