Fazer gone Volvo
#1
So I had a minor incident about a month ago - it was wet and I wasn't looking where I was going, and braked too late, skidded all over the place and finally stopped against the rear end of a BMW 1150. Damage to BMW was the tail cluster and the metal carrier - about 250 to replace. My poor Fazer on the other hand, had the front fairings pushed back a bit, some new cracks - wonky looking over all. Bottom of the MRA screen has shattered etc.

However, since the tip, the headlamps are always on. I can not seem to turn them off - there was no damage to the on/off switch or anything, but lights come on as soon as turn the ignition on. It's not a big deal as I always ride with the light on anyway, but just wondering what could be the reason? I would have thought there is nothing behind the lamp/bulb itself that would decide when the ligh comes on off - and there was no impact or damage to the switch part either.

Any thoughts?

thanks a mil!

Apologies for coming back this late on this snapper - I am thinking I would need to open up the area to see what's going on. Is there a manual of some sort somewhere online that I can use to kinda find my way around in there? Thanks again.

Also noticed my brake lights are coming on at the slightest breeze against the front brake lever. Looks like the tiny switch under the front brake lever is too happy or too eger to come on? Is there a way to make sure the brake lever stays a bit away/out from that switch - I couldnt' find anyway to move the switch back, it's held with a single screw.

Thanks again!

I think there's a copy of the haynes manual in the downloads section.

I think it's for models up to 2001 but should be there or there abouts.

Is it full headlight or just parking light? Just wondering if it's the ignition (all the way past on for parking light?)

Thanks, I will have a look there.

It's the main headlights, except the side running lights. So when the bike ignition is turned off, everything is off. With the head light switch at off position, turn the ignition key to 'on', and the main headlight comes on. When I turn the light switch on, the running lights (?, those little side lights on both corners of the head lamp) comes on.

have you knocked the main beam switch on as you (I assume) went over the handlebars?

I didn't go over the bar, but it's possible that my waist / thigh pressed pretty hard into the switch. Are you thinking this is a problem with the switch itself?

Apologies once again for coming back so late in this thread, but the thought an update might be useful to others in future.

The front brake switch issue turned out to be incorrect front brake level, probably fitted by the previous owner. Swapped that over for a correct brake lever and that issue went away.

Yet to address the head lamps issue.
