another exhaust question
#1
Recently fitted a SP carbon can on my FZR, since fitting my bike had a developed a vibration around 4800-5500 RPM, not all the time and seems to be worse when hot,

the vib is felt most in the right foot peg, I cant really feel it thru the bar or anywhere near as bad on the LHS, i ve check the exhaust for leaks and also checked the cener stand is sitting snug on the new link pipe ?? the ped also apears solid with no loose fittings

Is something to do with the engine/carbs etc ??? do i need a tune or something ?? im pretty new to this all
My bike is also fitted with a 25kw restrictor

Have you tried putting the original exhaust back on and seeing if it still happens (ie, putting it back to a known standard).

Is it down on power, or hesitant on the throttle at all?

Some exhausts do need setting up / re-fuelling to get the best from them, and the restrictor being fitted might not help in this regard.

you also need to check if the new pipe is touching anywhere. especially after heat has expanded it slightly. it shouldnt touch anything at all. crawl underneath and have a look, preferably with the engine running, but watch out for any hot oil drips!

What age / mileage is the bike?

Out of interest, is there any other mods to it?

Have you done a general bolt tightness check (ie, including screws that are unrelated to the exhaust itself)? to rule that out?

Should all of the above fail and problem persists, be aware that resonance will be felt through the whole bike if the exhaust can is only single skinned no matter what you do.. Paricularly on the budget end of whats available.. Used to suffer sumthin rotten with viper race can on a previous Thundercat..  Sad
Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it...
