a little help on spanner sizes

Folks,

need a wee bit of help, I pick my FZ1s up on saturday (I don't think its got the tool kit with it as there s PCIII in there ?, and I want to be able to adjust the gear/brake levers once I've put a couple of miles on her, so what sizes do I need to adjust these levers ??

Get yourself a small set of spanners covering from 8mm to 14mm and you will have most of the bolt/nut sizes covered, Spanners are not expensive thesedays, Machine Mart or Halfords do reasonable quality ones for a few pounds, it's best to get the ones with a ring type wrench on one end and open ended on t'other.
Failing that, when he wheels your pride and joy out of the workshop/showroom ask the mechanic nicely if he'll spend a minute adjusting your levers to suit you.

Ah I maybe didn't make myself clear, I have a garage full of spanners, so having them and sizes isn't the issue 

I tend to find I need to be on the bike for awhile till I realise how I prefer the levers, so was just needing to know the size so I can take a couple with me to fiddle with on the return journey to hame  un

Why not take a spanner or two from your collection and try them before leaving home? 

If that's still not a simple enough solution, I think you'll find that trying a 10mm first might be advisable.

I get what you meen. Traveling to pick up your new bike and want to set it up on the return to home trip.
I would plump for 2 screw drivers ( 1 flat 1 pozzi) spanner wise 8 10 12 14, or just a 10 and a small adjustable.

Gear levers rods and rear brake master cylinder adjusters on these are usually a pair of 10mm nuts.  So, 2 x 10mm open-enders or 10mm and small adjustable wrench as suggested should see you right.

you may find that the front brake lever needs an Allen key on the clamp.

My mini kit is two 10s, a 12, a small set of allen keys, a stubby flat head, and a stubby pozi, small (bent nose) pliers. A roll of electrical tape, a stanley knife, a couple of pairs of disposable gloves and a collection of zip ties. All wraped in a shammy leather.
