Clutch biting point

Just got myself another Fazer 14 years after buying my first back in 1998. Anyhow, less of the nostalgia. My new bike has been round the block a few times and is no spring chicken. The clutch biting point is very late and I was wondering how this could be rectified? The adjuster at the lever is fully wound out and the clutch isn't slipping at all.

Any suggestions?

Mine was the same mate at about 50k onwards. I thought it was going to be because the clutch was ready for replacement soon. Turned out that I just needed to replace the clutch cable as it was old and had stretched.

Got a new cable, wound the adjusters back to their original settings and now the biting point is exactly where it should be. Could be worth a punt, cable wasn't that expensive and it was an easy job :thumbup

Cheers mate, thought it may be stretched. It's done 38k miles.

You can adjust the clutch at the sprocket cover you know  Wink refer to the haynes manual

Exactly, assumed you meant this adjuster was at max also. It's behind a rubber gromit thingy on the front sprocket cover as mentioned.

Check Haynes but basically you wind the handlebar adjuster all the way back in, slacken the nut at the sprocket adjuster and then turn the screw (check Haynes for which way) until you feel a little pressure. Then turn back a quarter turn and tighten the nut.

If all that fails then change the cable  Smile

Can the cable not be adjusted mid-point as well? On the left of the bike running just below the frame under the tank?

Note: apologies, I was referring to an FZS1000, not sure if it applies also to the 600...
