talkie walkies VS bluetooth
#1
Hi Chaps,
does anyone have anyexperiance of either of these, want to keep in touch with other riders or cars and have no idea which is better or where to get hold of cheapish walkie talkies. Anyone have any preferances on which system is better ??

walkie talkies worked well for us on a car and bike convoy on a holiday roadtrip, I dont see bluetooth working well for anything beyond rider to pillion plus its miles more expensive.

Maplin do a kit that you can plug right into a walkie talkie with waterproof connector (yes it got tested where we were) with mics that fit nicely to the inside of the helmet and done right worked well even at motorway speeds and a little weather proof button for push to talk.

Cant remember tbh as the walkie walkies belonged to my mate and the intercoms were bought by myself. Its all much of a muchness as (excluding the big expensive commercial ones you see used in stores) they are all PMR446 radios whatever it says on the box. Just score on battery life, rechargable/non-rechargable - weatherproofness, build quality.

Just make sure they support a connection for an external PTT (push to talk) button - most do. Look for a pair of jacks spaced closely together on the radio they are for the twin pronged connection off your intercom/headset.
