just bought a 99 600 and after i give a bit of welly
the clutch started to slip, no problem replaced with new ebc
kit but still slips badly?????????
cable isnt over tightened either.........
ant ideas?
Is there any gunge behind the front sprocket cover?
I had the same problem on mine, changed the clutch and it was still slipping, turns out there was so much chain lube/grease in the cover that it was stopping the clutch push rod from fully returning.
I'd check that out first, I keep it clean in there once a month now.
Engine oil?
Lots of oils supposed to be OK for bikes but on occasion you find a not so good one? Just a thought..
Four Wheels Moves The Body... Two Wheels Moves The Soul
You haven't been using oil with 'friction reducing agents' have you ?? :eek
Its not the fact that its "car" or "bike" oil that matters, its whether it contains Moybdenum sulphide or PTFE shreds.
"GTX Magnatec", for example is bad. Regular GTX is fine as long as its the right viscosity (10/40 or similar).
This was burned into my memory at age 17 after spending a day scrubbing my BSA bantam clutch plates in parrafin with a tooth-brush after foolishly adding molyslip to its gearbox oil.
That's great news, enjoy!
