Just had to log in, I thought i was logged in "forever"?

That's my fault - you know that thing I was doing that gave error 500 on Saturday evening? I tried it again Sunday morning and everyone got logged out :o Still haven't sorted it all properly so it may happen again (it's not a big problem so not a priority).

But yes, once it's sorted you will be logged in until you choose to log out or change PC (or reload the operating system or the disc crashes etc).

FYI just opened the site, and navigated to this forum and it logged me out.

Hmmm, the logout may be delayed until you have moved around a bit within the site. Let me know if you get logged out repeatedly.
