Auditor wanted
#1
On Yuku there is a Community Chest. Members were able to contribute money and Yuku take their fee. It's all very transparent and the money cannot be gotten at by anyone other than Yuku.

When we move to a standalone site we will have to handle the contributions ourselves. This could lead to accusations or feelings of financial impropriety and so I would like a member not connected to the admins or mods to audit the books yearly. It should be pretty simple - money in from members, money out to the web host, the foc-u domain registrar and occasionally to software providers.

If you have an accounting background and are interested in helping out please let me know either below of by PM.

Yes he's the obvious choice, however I think I asked him before and he declined - fair enough he comes on here to get away from work Smile

I'd offer, but it's a bit too much responsibility lol. I have enough with dealing with the BMF subs!

Also, as a forum moderator you are not independent Smile

I've no professional accounting background, but once was an Embassy accountant.  But there was a software programme/accounting system we used but that was foreign office specific, and it did most of the work (though it was a right bastard to learn).  I just had to make sure it added up properly,  and nobody was fiddling their expenses/all expenses properly incurred/justified etc.    If it's only money in from members, and as few payments as you mention,  and as long as there is somebody to countersign or verify expenditure is justified /oversee/double check  payments, so that I wouldn't have sole responsibility,  I'd be happy to help out any I can.
I know there is a sort of money manager programme on microsoft somewhere - there was on the old xp as far as I remember.  I never used it, but from what you say, there shouldn't be too much bother.
Just as long as you don't expect an accountant's end of year report running into umpteen pages.

Missed this one when Frazer posted it up in September - perils of being on holiday!

Not sure if its whats needed (but maybe useful anyway), I have & use the MS Money prog that Mick mentions. I'm happy to do a "record keeping" kinda role, should be able to produce pretty much any reporting that might be needed.

(Mick, sorry, don't mean to try and jump in front of you!)

Hi Rich
Fire away !  You sound far more qualified than me.  If you need a hand with anything,  just let me know

Thank you both. It would be a "checking the records" role, rather than a record keeping one, and investigating that the payments are genuine. As I say it's for auditing rather than for bookkeeping. Still happy?

If both you foccers would be happy to take an independent checking role on the sums, that would be grand.
:thumbup
Also it means Farjo can't spend all the funds generated by harvesting my fat on his follicle regeneration program...
In fairness, even T-Cat, Bong and myself aren't THAT pudgy.

In seriousness though, if we had two independent verifiers it would be awesome.

Well, I'm no auditor, but if nobody else with better quals comes along, then I'm happy to get involved :thumbup

Yes, happy to help out any way I can.  Just let me know what you want me to do.  Also happy to help with any admin chores generally.
